Don't disregard everything Scoop has to offer....he just tends to serve some points of view without sugar. Six months after moving here, something he said will personally affect you and suddenly it will be one of those.....OH thats what he meant !

You state you do your research.....having a small child have you researched the CCSD...Sooner or later if you stick around you will either directly or indirectly deal with the public school system.

Your career path, being an "event planner" is not exactly unique to the valley. I personally know several professional event planners within Vegas and walking in cold might not be what you expect....

Your pets (cats specifically) might create a slight issue for you when wishing to rent.

Vegas is a kind of place where you could reside in the same house for 10 years and never even know your next door neighbor, let alone seek "like minds"....

Based on your original question I tend to agree with Scoop....and beware...the far Northwest (Lone Mtn) still has Coyotes that tend to love domestic cats....and not to fraternize with !

Adjective. Used to describe persons who have adjusted or altered their lifestyle for environmental reasons. Crunchy persons tend to be politically strongly left-leaning and may be additionally but not exclusively categorized as vegetarians, vegans, eco-tarians, conservationists, environmentalists, neo-hippies, tree huggers, nature enthusiasts, etc.

Urban Dictionary: crunchy

Their example is quite good but past this forum rules.

Actually the right place to rent with three cats is the crunchy zone.

We have had at least a dozen cats in this cul-de-sac the majority of whom roam freely. Had a feral on our patio for ten years. Have never lost one to anything other than old age. My yard stays reasonably free of them as I have an 18 pounder who patrols on occasion...but they are around hunting the ground squirrels and birds.

For you, maybe.

My wife and I are able to live on $10K per year. That's our total annual nut. Everything. Down to the last penny. People who don't mind doing the leg work can live for almost nothing in this town. Compare that cost of living to the wages available and it's easy to make the financial numbers work here. (Provided addiction doesn't enter into the financial equation.)

But that isn't the point. What does it matter how cheap this place is if the quality of life is in the toilet? And believe me that anyone who self describes as a crunchy, eco-warrior, LGBT freedom-fighter is going to loathe this town. That's like being an atheist wine-aficionado who makes a living from porn and considering a move to Saudi Arabia.

Next to the unicorn preserve and the free-range leprechauns.

Sheesh! You need to get out more.

Oh I get it because they only eat seeds and grains etc.

Too funny. Not to be confused with raunchy.

I just googled it, the unicorn preserve and free-range leprechaun place is down on East Flamingo commonly referred to as the CCSD Ed Shed....the "crunchy zone" apparently is that short stretch of roadway in front of the Subaru dealership....my bad....I would get out more....but this "dry" heat gets a little old

Almost. It comes from hippies being granola eaters. Crunchy == granola eater == hippie
