For instance, I can think of a few families whose lives were shattered by the Cliven Bundy standoff, even though the standoff itself didn't affect them at all.

To a great extent, Las Vegans already deal with these problems via head-in-the-sand. They barricade themselves behind concrete walls. They erect barbicans in the form of gates and guard gates. They install alarm systems. They buy a dog, and a gun. And then they hope that's enough.

These actions already prove my point that this is a low quality-of-life city. If this place was as good as the cheerleaders claim, we wouldn't need to live in a 21st-century guard-gated fortress. Pumping thousands of high-school drop outs into society every year does us no favors. Allowing the homeless to fester in our depressed areas does us no favors.

And "you're free to move whenever you want" isn't much of a solution.
Ok, you got me. I also can't find any positives about the interior of Kilauea either

I did not, however, choose to move to Chernobyl.

Give them time -- they'll either flame out spending all their money in casinos, strip clubs and tattoo parlors, or they'll buckle down and start saving.
The one constant here seems to be working at casinos. Admittedly I only know a couple of people who work at casinos and they seem happy, maybe the majority of people who work there are unhappy. This is an interesting constant factor here.

Maybe I live in a totally different world. The people I associate with don't go to strip clubs, they don't spend all they're money in casinos, most of them don't even go to a casino unless its for dinner or a show (including myself), they don't go to tattoo parlors. Maybe I'm the odd one out here.

Another reference to the constant factor I'm starting to think there's something here.

Ha! So you're telling us that with your intelligence the items that are now your anti-Vegas mantra you had to "live" them to realize they were negatives and could impact your happiness?
"CCSD is ranked at the bottom overall.
CCSD is 700 teachers short for the start of the school year.
CCSD is 60 bus drivers short for the start of the school year.
Nevada has the 4th highest foreclosure rate in the US.
Unemployment being at 6.8% when the national average is 5.2% is not good.
Las Vegas average gas price is $3.27 per gallon, national average is $2.62.
Nevada has the highest divorce rate in the US.
Don't forget about the drought and the bathtub draining of Lake Mead."
Oh my god I'm laughing at this one so hard my side hurts. Seriously, these items that are now your go to anti-Vegas bullet points you actually had to experience them to realize they could have a negative impact on you or that you wouldn't like them and you'd allow them to control your happiness. OMG that's funny. If this is true maybe I think living in Vegas is the least of your worries, WOW!

You mean from the straw poll you conducted at the major strip resort you work at right. Or let me guess, you've now conveniently since you wrote that interviewed hundreds of OTHER people outside of the major strip property too. Honestly, "but many more" really? WOW

There's that reference again. I think we may be on to something.

Right, but you actually had to "live" it to believe it, right? WOW.

Hello everyone! I am still really new to this forum. I thought this thread was a good place to introduce myself. I am one of those ignorant, doomed, uneducated, big mistake makers! I am moving to Vegas just because I like to vacation there. I bought a house, sight unseen, in... wait for it... Paradise! I also did absolutely no research.

Las Vegas is becoming a dangerous city to live.
I drive about 500 miles a week around Las Vegas, all areas…and I have been to over 100 cities in the USA…

and Vegas is one of the MOST SAFE areas in the country, especially Henderson and Summerlin. The people that are criminals here are drug dealers and purse snatchers. Not many tough people in this town, because most people are too stupid.

Try harder with your BS post though!

Again, no context. If these two knew each other, it doesn't have much effect on the overall safety of LV.

Edit: Context so far. Two men arguing inside a restaurant. They go outside, one stabs the other and flees. Can, and does, happen anywhere.

The follow-up news story said the two men knew each other. They argued inside the restaurant, taking it outside, then one stabbed the other.

Oh, c'mon. But that doesn't play into the OP's idiotic agenda! It MUST be random crime happening on every street corner in Las Vegas any time of day or night. Have you noticed the number of posts this "person" has? Have you noticed the content of each post?

I'm guessing the IP address is going to be somewhere in the projects in San Diego....
