K81689,
It was faster when it was connected directly to the Modum. It was the 802.11 "N" setting, Disconnected the "N" setting and all was well.I only posted the content to help others if they had the same problem, not to complain about Cox.

.

Default Bump!

I've seen various bits about cox not requiring a contract, can anyone confirm this?

Would I be able to buy their modem, and then just sign up for a month every time I'm in town?

I think you can do this, but I believe there are setup/connection/install fees involved, even if you already have everything installed.

Cox announced price increases for 2016:

Internet Only
Price changes for Cox High Speed Internet are as follows:
Starter will change from $34.99 to $37.99.
Essential will change from $52.99 to $57.99.
Preferred will change from $66.99 to $73.99.
Premier will change from $77.99 to $84.99.

some markets get this in January , but Las Vegas normally gets their increases starting with March billing, but I dont know for sure.

Lame. Next thing you know they could start actually enforcing their stated data caps.

Too bad Century Link doesn't have the infrastructure to compete at the same speeds in the majority of households.

Please Google Fiber.... Please!

I've actually found something I think will work for me. Verizon 4G

Verizon 4G LTE Broadband Router with Voice | Verizon Wireless

Coupled with a $35 every 2 month data plan for 2gb (all I need) with zero contract.

You don't even need that. Just tether to your cell phone.
