Yeah, all gasoline is just refined product that is fed by one pipeline coming from Southern California. I believe the only difference is additives. What I never understood is why the gas is cheaper here than in California when there is an added cost of pumping the product through 300 miles of pipeline. Probably has to do with higher median income and being able to get away with charging Californians more.

Gas comes from Arizona and Utah as well, but far lower volumes than the pipeline from San Bernardino. Never can say for sure but its possible the warehouse companies made deals with other state supplies and are using it as a bridge now until refineries in CA finally get their houses in order by the end of the year. It's cheap by local standards, but a high volume seller could make money bringing in gas from AZ where its about 75 cents cheaper currently.

Here in the Los Angeles area suburb where we live.. Gas is right now $2.70 a gallon at Sam's Club and just 4 miles away the gas at the other stations is running $3.43... That is a 68 cents difference.. What the Hell.....

BUT Sam's Club is ALWAYS packed and the others have a few customers...

I didn't know UT has oil fields, would explain why it's cheaper there than here. I'm looking at maps and I don't see too many in AZ but the state is close enough that it enjoys production from UT. Still doesn't explain why those two states and Nevada are generally cheaper for price at the pump than Cali. California also enjoys a coastline to get imported crude, further reducing costs. Whatever though.

I happen to be in Ft Worth right now..gas is between 1.89 and 1.99/gal street prices. Haven't been by a costco or sams, but my guess it's even cheaper.

I'm sure there are a few who feel good about the extra sacrifice to the eco gods every time you fill your tank, but an extra 50% has to make even the most devout eco-religious person at least question whether things may be out of hand.

I was at the corner of Eastern and Bonanza today, and the Chevron on the corner was advertising $3.04 and the 7/11 across the street was like $3.14 . There is a Shell on Russell near the 95 in Henderson that is at $3.25. Absolutely nuts!

I'm generally up and out and about to get the kids off to school and I'm ready to wrap up my errands well before Costco opens up at 10 friggin am. Drives me crazy. I need gas at 8am, or 7am. I don't want to wait til 10 for Costco and then sit in line for another 20 minutes. And I live right near the Henderson Costco! I for one will be very happy if they open another location closer to Southern Highlands. The one on Marks is just too darned crazy. I've been using the new Arco on Russell at the 95, as a cash customer to at least take advantage of the $2.89 price. Use your debit card (no cc's allowed) and they tag you with an extra $.35 for the processing fee.
