I was wondering around the area where my job is, and found the Good Will clearance center,
now this is not your ordinary good will store, its a giant warehouse, where they bring out giant racks of stuff, and people pick thru them (sometimes rather fiercely) there are people who spend the day there, and also a lot of people who buy professionally.

Now here is the fun part, you PAY by the POUND for the stuff

< $50 = $1.29 LB
> $50 = .99 LB

Just an example, they had a chest freezer (working) for $10
I picked up a hose reel (major brand) with hose for $5

Place is right off the 15 & Blue Diamond

I a million percent agree. And I'm a picker/reseller as my main income. It's garbage there, as far as "treasure hunting" goes. But if you're homeless and need stuff, it's a great place.

I used to love treasure hunting at thrift stores. I found really cool stuff over the years. I have a vintage coleman lantern in almost mint condition that I picked up for $6 or so. I like Revere cookware and have several like new pieces from thrift stores. I also like old American kitchen tools but only if in really good condition. I have a small collection of old Gillette shavers as well. I don't see as much "treasure" like I used to in thrift stores though. I wonder if it's picked through before being put on the shelves.

Depends on the store. We still make a very good living reselling items we find at thrift stores, auctions, swap meets and garage sales. Vintage razors sell well for us. Actually, just checked, and am down to my last Gillette. 1940s Gold Tech in original case.

Coming from New England where we couldn't walk out of our front door without tripping on antiques, we've had to modify our business plan to incorporate a much broader selection of inventory. Antiques here are few and far between, and command a price that doesn't leave us with enough margin, so now we just sell anything on which we can at least triple our money.

So far, so good

I have been using Goodwill online auctions for a long time. I have gotten some good deals on 70s/80s/90s receivers etc.
In fact I got this older Technics turntable that looked new in the box for almost nothing. It works great.
