Hello all! Thank you for taking the time to address my inquiry.

My girlfriend and I will be moving to Las Vegas at the end of December, are are trying to figure out the best living situation for ourselves, given that we won't get a chance to scout things out before we move.

What's needed -
3br, 2 bth, washer/dryer, dishwasher, small dog friendly, within 25 minutes of Southern Hills Hospital.

Our combined income is in the low to mid 80's, and would ideally like a place where a roommate would be easy to come by.

Renting an apartment or house doesn't make a difference to us, although having a yard to let the puppy out without having to be with her every time would be ideal.

Any tips on areas, developments, complex's would be much appreciated.
Even tips on which ones to avoid.

We are in our late 20's and not really into partying, much more into hiking, golfing, craft brews, board games, and Netflix

Thanks!

Haha, yeah.. Student loans are a *****.
I'm also a rather frugal person, so cost sharing is always on my radar.

We're looking for a place in the 1k-1100 range.

I was about to write you have a plethora of options within 25 minutes of the hospital. Then I read your target price range.

My initial thought is you should increase your target price range up to $1300 - $1800.

Here is one I just pulled from Zillow:

124 Water Hazard Ln, Las Vegas, NV 89148 | Zillow

I suggest you contact a local real estate agent for advice. If it were me, I'd rent a house, and real estate agents can help with that (there are homes for rent where the owner lists it for real estate agents and pays the real estate agent a fee). I would not rent off craigslist. By going through a real estate agent, you minimize the chance of a scam.

Thanks for the tip! I've placed some calls into places already.
It's scary moving somewhere sight-unseen, but these kinds of boards help answer a lot of questions.

I am a landlord and I ALWAYS post my house for rent on Craigslist. I have always found great renters. Bottom line: Craigslist is not the enemy. Lots of good people looking for places to rent and good landlords looking to rent out their place on there. It is the job of both to do their due diligence BUT if you are coming here site unseen I think you should contact a professional like a Property management company or a real estate agent although most RE agents don't do rentals I have found. Good luck.

Renting a place unseen is setting up for disaster. Stay at a weekly and then find a place. 80k and a roommate that you dont know?? They will rob you blind..this ain't Mayberry!

Vegas is a different world. With a woman in the home myself it would be no roommate but that's between you two. $80K in Vegas is a different animal. Come visit on a weekday to get low hotel rates and search yourself. Fly southwest.

When we moved here a year ago, we rented a house without seeing it. We had a realtor that was recommended to us from our realtor back home. We chose houses from what we saw online, had the Vegas realtor tour the houses and give us feedback, and we made our decision from that and it worked out well for us.
