My other threads werent getting many hits so I thought I'd just ask this question to generalize:

Where can my husband and I get the most for our rental dollar in the Las Vegas area. Here are my criteria:

We don't want to live in the actual city of Las Vegas if we can help it. Since we are from rural Tennessee, something on the outskirts would probably come as less of a shock.

I'd like to keep the rent around 1000.00

I want a single family dwelling if possible and a back yard of some kind is a must. I prefer some grass, but if that's not possible, we understand. We need 3 br and 2 bath minimum but square footage isnt too much of an issue as long as everyone has their place.

Good schools are necessary to us as well as convenience to jobs, hospitals, and shopping.

$1000 with a yard is hard but possible. For $1050 or $1100 you can easily get something very nice in far North Las Vegas. Or the NE area near Nellis AFB. Remember to consider townhouses too, a lot of them have private yards for cheaper rent. You won't get any grass but you can always install some yourself.

Pahrump...Dude may have to commute. You will find no suitable schools with areas with suitable rents in LV. Pahrumps schools are OK - just kinda rural...the OP understands all that.

Coneon guys.. there are no SFRs in Las Vegas with good schools and any property that rent for $1000 or close.

Well, we originally were interested in Boulder City but the rent for what we are looking for (per Craigslist) is around 1500 minimum. We've seen a few things for between 1100 and 1300 in Henderson and prices in Pahrump seem to be about the same.

Maybe Craigslist isnt an accurate representation?
