Dyn, a lot of the streets on the south part of town are like that. I actually know, er, knew the man who Arby Avenue is named after. (Arby was his first name). Also Badura Avenue was named after another local from the 1950s.

Sink, you read my mind, as this is something that I've been wondering myself...LOL! Some of these names are just too strange.

Let's see.. some of my favs...

Purple Haze Street
Mad Dog Street <-- my friends would have a field day with that one.
Wine Cellar Avenue
Moose Country Place <-- makes me giggle for some reason
Abernety Forest <-- tounge twist much?

My mom looked at a house over in SunCity Anthem... some of those are a trip. Anything off of Rue Beinville..

Mission Control/Cape Canaveral/Buzz Aldrin Drives (i think their in the NW). Not far from there is a whole little neighboord with references to NYC - Grand Concourse Street, Brooklyn Heights Street, Sheepshead Bay Avenue (except the builder spelled MacDougal wrong... lol!)

There were a few others, but I can';t remember them now.

I've been looking at houses constantly.. to agree with Sinkbean and Hill, absolutely a street name would affect my decision. I mean seriously. Furnace Gulch Avenue? Can you blame me?

WTF?
How you get a name like that?

Joe:"Hum,what are we gunna name this street Travis?"
Construction worker working on development getting chased:"MAD DOG MAD DOG!!!It's a F#*%ING MAD DOG!!!
Travis:"Are you thinking what I'm thinking?"
Joe and Travis together:"MAD DOG STREET!Score another for the Joester and Trav."

LMAO&ROFL
I don't know I don't get it.

I still am trying to remember that name of that street I told you guys about before.I'm calling my cousin but he isn't answering. When I get it I'll post it.

Once while in western Mass i ended up on a dirt road called "Purgatory Rode" which i'm guessing is left over from the Puritans.

Came across this little tidbit:

Street Names Contest Winners! - The Car Connection

And well, this isn't in Vegas, but it is in NYC:

And this, well, you are just going to have to click the link: Urban Legends Reference Pages: Welcome to Austria

That town in Austria is very interesting. I'll have to visit there when I visit another town there. I'll send back photos.

I'm surprised no one's mentioned Hualapai yet! It's a good one - I've yet to meet anyone who can pronounce it right on the first try.

How about Dead Babies Drive? . . . I'm thinking of an Alice Coper neighborhood:

Muscle of Love Avenue
School's Out Street
Feed My Frankenstein Place
I Love the Dead Boulevard
Welcome to My Nightmare Road
Go to Hell Street
Prince of Darkness Place
Under My Wheels Road
No More Mr. Nice Guy Boulevard
etc.

. . . anyway, I didn't realize there were so many cool street names in Vegas. The more I read about Nevada, the more I want to move there (including the regular comments about how Libertarian Pahrump is).
