Night Shifter here, have no idea what most of these posters are complaining about! Freeways are toned down considerably as I leave my house at 9:45PM, and returning at 6AM, not a lot of traffic as I go through the Spaghetti Bowl.

The extra wide lanes on our Mormon laid-out, avenues contributes to this as well.

But I refrain from calling other drivers derogatory names, as both my mother and grandmother drilled it into me from a child: Point a finger at someone, you may very well be pointing 3-4 fingers at yourself.

And too many times that's been the case!

You think it's bad now- be glad you didn't have to deal with it before they did the widening and improvements. We didn't need roller coasters to have a death defying ride back then.

Have you switched on the Morgan Freeman voice yet, makes for a fun drive.

When people here complain about the traffic (and the COLD!!!) I just shake my head and smile. Traffic here moves and I have not been cold yet!!! Las Vegans would NEVER make it back East!!!
I've been saying that prior to leaving NoVa and the 8 years living here.

Did it yesterday while we were out yard saling The only thing I don't like about the promo voices is they don't tell you the street names. But I do like the Morgan Freeman one..

Once you turn north on the 215 it thins out considerably.

My main gripe with traffic in Las Vegas was the fact that surface roads all have traffic lights every 27 feet, if you were to drive down Charleston from Hollywood to the Red Rock...you'd need a new brake job by the time you got there, but thats just one example

There was also massive construction projects going on with the 95 (widening it between the Rainbow curve and Ann Road, along with the HOV off ramp from 95 to Summerlin Parkway) that made my commute home from the Cosmopolitan to Centennial Hills hell on earth...but that construction was in 2011 so I'm sure thats over and done with

The strip and areas east of the strip were also congested a lot as well in my opinion, Maryland Parkway would be the biggest offender for traffic congestion after Las Vegas Blvd itself which I am not counting here

I have done this. I prefer it to the highway BUT, stopping every 27 feet is annoying.

That was just a prime example....other roads like Sahara, Flamingo, DI, Trop, are just as bad as charleston is, especially if you're headed to the east.

This is another reason why I loved the NW part of the Valley....driving down Ann Road between the 95 heading east towards Decatur or Cam Al Norte was a breeze

This is certainly not Las Vegas specific. This (and even worse examples) happen all over the country.
