To me, its the best thing out there to combat a cable bill and I was lucky to stumble onto it reading some sports forum one day. Otherwise Id be torrenting everything and Im getting a little too lazy for that.
I actually have both. I picked up the stick at Christmas time figuring if it sucked, I'd know immediately and return it. Although I haven't loaded kodi on it yet, it works superbly running Netflix and amazon.

My friend lives a miles North of the Summerlin library, and I went on antennaweb and said there was a strong signal (-24 to -36 dBm) . They are marked a Yellow: A Small Multidirectional Antenna is recommended to receive this station.

Up to 58 channels from 26 over-the-air stations may be received at this location.
  1. KSNV-DT 3.1 NBC RF Channel: 22: 21 miles at 118° Yellow
  2. KHSV-DT 21.1 IND RF Channel: 2: 21 miles at 118° Yellow
  3. KVVU-DT 5.1 FOX RF Channel: 9: 21 miles at 118° Yellow
  4. KTNV-DT 13.1 ABC RF Channel: 13: 23 miles at 130° Yellow
  5. KLAS-DT 8.1 CBS RF Channel: 7: 23 miles at 129° Yellow
  6. KLVX-DT 10.1 PBS RF Channel: 11: 21 miles at 118° Yellow
  7. KINC-DT 15.1 UNI RF Channel: 16: 23 miles at 129° Yellow
  8. KVCW-DT 33.1 CW RF Channel: 29: 21 miles at 118° Yellow
  9. KBLR-DT 39.1 TEL RF Channel: 40: 21 miles at 118° Yellow
  10. KLVD-LD 23.1 DAY RF Channel: 23: 21 miles at 118° Yellow

Yet she bought an antenna and was unable to get most of these stations. Do the buildings on the strip interfere?

what kind of antenna? the digital indoor ones only work if you have somewhat of a clear line of sight to the towers

she may need something like this, currently $30

I get all those and more in Lone mountain. I called MrAntenna he took care of it all and have TV reception in all rooms.

These are the ones I watch and have marked as favorites, there are many more that come in clear but are spanish, shopping or religious.

English stations that come in crystal clear.
2.1,3.1,3.3,5.1,5.2,5.3,8.1,8.2,8.1,8.2,8.3,10.1,1 0.2,10.3,13.1,13.2,13.3,21.1,21.2,21.3,21.4,31.2,3 1.4,31.5,33.1,33.2,33.3,39.1,39.3,39.4,47.2,47,3,4 7.4,47.5,47.6

Well worth the install. I don't miss cable at all. I use Netflix, Twitch, Youtube and Amazon prime to supplement my tv watching.

When we moved here in September we decided it was a good time to return all our equipment to Direct TV and figure out how to cut the cost of watching TV. We bought a fire stick and a friend of a friend loaded kodi on it. We bought 3 HD antennae for $13. each on Amazon and get quite a few channels here in Henderson. Not as many as nickydim listed but all the major networks, lots of local networks and some stations that play some good comedies from the 80's. LOL gotta love Drew Carey!

The kodi application is meh ok. Neither one of us are any good at IT stuff or figuring out how to program the darn thing. We tried to watch NFL games during football season but after a couple minutes it would freeze up and couldn't get it to run again. More than one Sunday we ended up at Sunset Station watching the Steelers! It's fine for watching shows that we can't get with the antennas such as The Walking Dead on AMC without having to wait until the next day to watch it or movies that are fairly new. We also use Amazon, Netflix so overall it has been great and has saved us a ton of money.

The only thing we miss from Direct TV is the Sunday Ticket. If the Kodi would work for that, we would have everything we need for TV watching.

I have a newer (budget) Samsung Smart TV... their integrated apps are amazing. Netflix, Amazon, Youtube, Sunday Ticket...
Smart TVs have come a long way. All apps work flawlessly.

I'm lucky in that I use a cheapo $10 digital antenna and get all of the local channels

I've had Kodi in the past but never really liked it with its unreliability and sketchy quality
