Depends. I was out last summer with 1 kid.. 13 at the time. Basically for 4 days. The only thing we couldn't do because of his age that he wanted to was Carrot Top.

The first day out there, we got him the 'ride in a HumVee' to battlefield vegas and he got to shoot automatic weapons.. Instant win. We could have slept in a gutter for 5 days after that and it'd have been a great trip for him.

That night we walked the strip, did the Coke store, Hershey store, saw the Volcano and the fountains.. Next day we rented a car and drover to Hoover and the Canyon skywalk. We saw Criss Angel and Jeff Dunham.. I caught a launched 'Peanut'.. We went to Fremont St.. Did Slotzilla. Ate at the Heart Attack Grill So, there's plenty to do with kids.. Older kids, at least.

Now, he was keeping a collection of the cards handed out on every corner that he'd pick up off the ground. If his mother ever finds out about THAT.. Probably won't be pleasant. And the girls in pasties and thongs on Fremont he had a healthy interest in.. The guy wearing a baby mask and a diaper freaked us both the *#*) right out. The guy panhandling on one of the bridges holding the sign that said "Need money for penile reduction surgery" made me chuckle. So. Yeah.. There's that side, too.. But, I didn't get bent out of shape over it.

Now.. I will mention this and.. You all can throw things at me for not being PC if you want.. But WTF is up with all the little people in Vegas? And I mean 'midgets'. The reason I caught a air-gun launched "Peanut" at the Dunham show was because we were sitting slap in the middle of an LP convention or something I'm 5'10" and looked like Andre the effing Giant. waitress at Heart Attack Grill was an LP. If I see one little person a year 'in the wild' here in the south, that's alot. Don't get me wrong.. Nothing wrong with it, all that I interacted with were very nice people.. I'm just legitimately wondering why I would see such a large number in Vegas.

Now.. I will also say this.. I'm probably an oddity that goes to Vegas. I gambled a grand total of $60. $20 bets on Redskins, Wizards and Capitals (Just checked, that last one's still possible.. And I should have gotten my $20 back on the Redskins just for them making the playoffs, but..).. I had a total of 2 drinks the whole time we were there I think.. I am basically just a large 13 year old, so.. Maybe that's why it worked out so well. I'm pretty sure I wouldn't take a child under 11 or so out there, but teens? There's enough to keep them busy and entertained so long as you're with them. If the reason you're going out is to gamble and drink.. Then I totally agree.. Leave the kids at home.

My advise would be similar. We always do this. Even though we do not travel with kids anymore. We love to relax in a condo, have room for friends or family to gather and we don't have to hassle with the expense of Vegas food or the crowds. We always go out for some meals, usually 1 top of the line dining experience and then a few other times. Of course the op says she is not renting a car, so I guess grocery shopping could be a problem. I still would love to know where she found a place on the strip that offered meals in the rate. I notice she hasn't come back to answer. Hope she has a great time in Vegas. We just got back.
