I'm pretty pumped. I won't be a Raiders fan, but I will go to some games. My two favorite sports coming to town right after I moved here. Pretty cool.

Seriously the Raiders are counting on selling $250 million in PSLs in a market they have no history or natural connection to? Man this boondoggle never ceases to amaze.

It looks like this is a done deal. I did some math that might be of interest:

The now $950 million (the Raiders are already backing out of $200 million of their own money) we're paying will cost about $1.6 billion with interest. That's a liability of about $800 for every person living in Clark County. This doesn't include the road improvements we'll be forced to cover. The higher your home is valued above the average, when including apartments and condos, the more your liability is. Mine is around $6,000 for my family of four.

Yes, the argument is we won't have to pay for it, which is a completely flawed logic. First, the hotel tax will never be able to cover the improvements needed down the road. County residents will be on the hook for that. Second, that tax money had hundreds of better uses that locals will end up having to pay for when we can't raise the hotel tax, much of which already goes towards education.

Let's be generous and say there will be an average of 15,000 guests for 25 stadium events. The average room rate is around $120 and 2.5 people stay per room. Stadium guests will pay a total of $4.75 million towards the actual stadium tax over 30 years. The previous 12% tax will only collect an additional $72 million over the life of the stadium from these guests. The additional sales tax dollars will be about double that. The trickle down effect on that number is negligible.

Every use of the stadium, assuming 25 events a year and 15,000 tourists attending, will cost taxpayers just over $2 million. It will collect $158,400 in stadium taxes from the hotel guests.

I've got more but I won't bore you. This whole thing is a massive embarrassment for the city and anyone that voted for or lobbied for it. Our schools are falling down, don't have enough textbooks or technology and our healthcare system is a joke. Somehow we can't fund any of that but I can be forced to marry $6,000 in tax liability.

At least many of the people that voted for this got voted out. I can guarantee you that you'll be seeing them in a luxury box at a Raiders game a few years from now.

It heard it was a ruse by Metro to try and draw people with warrants out for their arrest. They figure a Raiders rally is the best way to do that.

I think there's going to be a lot of damage happening in Oakland if they are voted to move to LV. Be prepared.
