I know it sounds like a stupid question. We should never apply for an apartment or sign a lease without seeing the unit we'd be moving into. But things aren't always ideal, and in my case, I'm moving from California.

I'll be in Las Vegas during the first week of May, looking to move early June. I'll only be there a couple days, so the most time I'll have is looking at perhaps a model apartment. I doubt that landlords would have an apartment ready to move in almost a month in advance, and if they did, I doubt they'd put it on hold for a month.

What is my best option? I already have a list of possible apartments that I'll be looking at during the first week of May. When I find the one that suits me best, should I apply for it? Should I come back later that month to apply? How much time is there typically between applying and signing?

The thing I want to avoid is moving into an apartment that has not been properly clean and fixed.

Any advice will be useful. Thank you!

Get a weekly first and then go looking for an apartment. Do not sign a lease without seeing the apartment first in person.

Not only should you see the apartment first, you should drive by it on a Saturday night. If there's a party in the parking lot, run away.

1. Allegro at la Entrada
2. La Serena at the Heights
3. Bella Terra
4. Bay Breeze
5. Firenze
6. South Valley Ranch Apartments
7. Citi Lights

I'm moving with a friend. Our budget is max $900/month.

How many days/weeks should I book in advance? I know that weekly can be extraordinarily expensive.

You can tour around 4 places a day. Two before lunch and two after lunch. Sometimes you can squeeze in a little more. However, at a comfortable rate it looks like you only need two days to see everything on your list.

I don't think I would ever buy a pig, but even if I did, I don't know what a poke is. So, probably not.
