What I loved about the chase downtown in DAF was that they showed the construction site that became the Plaza.

Thankfully, we did get to see the Sahara and the Riviera. I love the history of LV, and the Sahara especially, had that in spades.

Talking of Diamonds are Forever, I never dreamed when I saw that movie way back in 1971, I would one day stand outside the Four Queens in the very same spot Sean Connery raced his car trying to get away from the police!!........

I would have loved to see the Dunes! What was really interesting in the video was how wide open the strip looked back then. Lots of space between the buildings, and even gas stations.

The mega resorts like the Venetian, to me, although beautiful, are overwhelming in scale. I used to love playing blackjack in the Sahara........ those chandelier's were beautiful. There were some great old photos on the walls. One of Liberace, Connie Stevens, and Buddy Hackett remains in my mind. The three of them had big grins, sort of saying, "isn't it great being here in Las Vegas?".........

The Frontier was opened by the famous silent movie director DW Griffith. and was were Elvis Presley made his first LV appearance in 1956. I love the history of LV, and the old small scale casinos. But sadly, most of it is gone now.

Well, it was 48 years ago, so I think the statute of limitations is up, at least for the death penalty on that.

Cruising the Strip used to be a relaxing drive. I only do it now and then these days to show it to first time visitors.

It's amazing to me - and a little sad - that the Strip today looks like Fifth Avenue Manhattan at Christmastime compared to back then. I miss the old days when the hotels and casinos looked more like country clubs (grass all around, etc.) than they do now.

I know its "progress," but there's a lot to be said for the old days when Frank and the gang ruled Vegas.

I could be wrong but I think this was extra movie footage, wasn't it? At least that is how I took the description of "Stock footage rear-window view from Flamingo Rd north to Desert Inn." If that is the case, they could have been driving like morons because the script called for it.

Then then did the same thing at night with what looks to possibly be the same cab whipping on onto the road at the start.

There is definitely some bad driving going on in the video.

Either way the footage is great. A simpler time.
