Last night went better than Friday, that is for sure, but it still wasn't a lot of money. I'm at 360 for the week including tips for 29 hours of driving. Tips covered most of the gas, so 330~ for 29 hours. 11 an hour. Next week I am going to try to put in 60 hours to hopefully net the 700 I need to pay bills and cover rental.

Here's what I have figured out so far. The airport is a complete waste of time and money. After airport fees, wait time, and the amount of time you drive/idle the vehicle, you MIGHT get 3 bucks for an hour if you're lucky.

I can't really comment on the strip because my phone is 4 years old and doesn't exactly work in the pick up locations for most casinos. The Bellagio, for example, is UNDER the parking garage in the tour bus loading zone. I get 0 signal there.

Another huge issue I have been having is GPS. 2 issues to be precise.
1 hunting signal constantly. I think this is part of the reason I am not doing as well as I could be. No GPS signal = the app doesn't know where I am to give me a route.
2 my GPS navigates about as well as a deaf dumb and blind guy. Sorry, that's not fair to the deaf dumb and blind.
So, last night, I had a ride at Stewart/Nellis. The Lyft app automatically sends you to Google Maps when you accept the ride. Google doesn't let you look at the end of the route, at least on my phone, it snaps you back to start as soon as the start disappears off the screen. It doesn't give you the end point either. Well, I was on Charleston, heading right for Nellis. I would have met Nellis 1 block from Stewart, where I needed to go. My GPS has me do a u turn, make a right, go up 2 miles, make a right, go 1 mile, and go right again for 2 miles bringing me right back to Charleston. It took me 5 motherf'n miles out of my way for no damn reason. To say I was livid is an understatement.

Normally, when I need to go somewhere I have never been, I input the address to see where it is, and then navigate my own route there. This doesn't let me do that and I absolutely hate that. Normally, when you get into navigation mode, if you hit back, it will take you to the outline of the route. With lyft, if you hit back, it takes you back to the lyft app.
That is half of my frustration with this.

I've been turning on the app at my house while I get ready. Then I start driving towards the strip on Sahara or Desert Inn. Usually, I get a ride well before I get to the strip. Yesterday, I got a guy right by my house that wanted to go to the blvd mall. Perfect. I've been running up and down paradise and koval and doing decently there. Once I hit Sahara on Paradise, I turn to go downtown via lvb. I'll find a spot to camp out downtown and do pretty well later at night. Most of my longer rides came from downtown.
If I don't get any hits in those areas I head west down one of the main roads like Flamingo and can usually get something that takes me back to the strip. I've been trying camping at various spots around town to see if there's any rides there. If not I make a note and move on. I did find a couple out of the way spots that seem to have a lot of activity. Going to keep those as my spots because there's not a lot of other cars in those areas.

Also, got my first puker last night. The last ride of the night. Luckily she got the window down and got it all outside. Unfortunately, I was driving at the time and the wind blew it back onto the side of the car. The good news is she only had alcohol for lunch/dinner so it just needs wiped down. I probably could have kept driving and gotten a couple more rides, but it was 4am and I was in bfe NW Vegas.

What cell carrier are you using? And are you allowed to use Siri instead of Google for gps?

AT&T.

I will never use an iphone even if apple buys every phone manufacturer and you can only buy iphones.

This phone is pretty old and has been abused all 4 years I've had it. It's worn and a bit outdated. I will get a new phone once my bills are caught up. Probably a note 4 so it can keep up with the app.

I feel ya on Apple , though the Siri navigation tool saved my ass many times and I've found it superior to the google nav tool. I was going to offer you my old one. It's Verizon.

I won't buy Apple either. I'm pissed about the planned obsolescence ( no software updates allowed ) on the first gen iPads which have been essentially rendered paperweights even though they still work perfectly.

For what it's worth, I was browsing a Pawn shop, indulging an out of town friend the other day and I saw a couple of Notes in there for a pretty good price - in case you don't want to pony up for a new one.

Oh, and AT&T sucks here. I had it on my company phone. Terrible coverage.

If you aren't forced into using a particular gps app, you may want to check out waze. I think it uses google maps for the streets, but it also gathers traffic data from other waze users, and will route you around traffic jams and such. It also alerts you to road hazards, cops, and other things that are nice to know in the area from other user reports.

It works on both apple and android platforms.

I've had much better luck buying and selling used phones through Swappa.com over anything local.

Got a ride ride by my house. Dropped him off. Instantly got another one. Pulled into their apartment complex. Some idiot kids run out so I swerved a bit to avoid and nailed the curb. Big hole in the tire. Covered by insurance but ruined my income for the night.

Right on cue. You knew it was only a matter of time. Thankfully only a blown tire.

That blown tire cost me a day's pay though and I have to spend time at the repair shop to have it fixed.
The lost pay is the big one. I am still reeling from having to pay 7k to settle the medical bills incurred by the under-insured driver that hit me. I got shut off notices on all my utilities because of it. That put me way behind. I would still be sitting pretty if not for that wreck (that wasn't even my fault *shakes fist angrily)

for now, you should not be thinking high end.. get yourself a basic car... insurance will be much cheaper.... not an infintity or other high end... a basic no frills.. even a chevy sonic.. the kia soul was smart.

screw apple and samsung on the phone.. go to walmart.. go on the family plan.. get an Lg and own it for 129. mine works great...
never again apple iPhone or samsung...
