If you want something different take a trip to old Henderson and check it out. It's not a same old casino like all the others. They treat their customers very nicely. There is a small, very good restaurant with great food specials. Tonight was filet mignon, lobster, shrimp cocktail, clam chowder, and salad for $19.99. That was the most expensive item on the menu. The place was busy so if you want to eat there put your name on the list when you walk in the door. The desserts look amazing too. There was a bavarian cream cake with fresh strawberries!

It's a small casino compared to most others with pretty much the same games. But they run promotions constantly. Every night at 6PM, they feed everyone in the casino. Sometimes it's pizza and I have also seen them do chicken wings and hot fudge sundaes. I think I got a cookie once at Boulder Station but that's about it! There is always a point multiplier and if you win X dollars you get to spin the wheel and win more. They are always giving away something!

You can spend your points in the restaurant or just about anywhere in the old Henderson area. We got Chinese the other night at a place right down the street. And you can buy carwashes half off with points every Friday. And they will take your car and wash it while you are relaxing in the casino! And there's always parking right there. There is a garage but we have never needed to use it.

It's just plain old fun like the casinos used to be decades ago. One of the workers said it's privately owned and they treat their employees well. If the casino does well, they all get raises. I like that! They know a lot of the customers and do things like celebrate birthdays. Most of the clientele is on the north side of 50.

Easy walking distance, like across the street to the Rainbow, owned by Peppermill, and El Dorado. Friends who live in Henderson said the Rainbow has great breakfast deals but we haven't tried it yet. Being owned by Peppermill, that would make sense.

I know it's probably not true that some casinos are looser than others. But we are both still way ahead after going 4 times. And it's not all that often that both of us will win at the same casino at the same time. It seems to us like we get a lot of play for the money.

The video poker pay tables there are excellent. You can play good VP for penny and nickel denominations. You can play from 1 to 10 lines. I imagine if their penny VP is so loose, the slots are probably set on the higher end of the spectrum.

I meant to include this in my post. They have 10/6 Double Donus and NSUD:

Emerald Island Casino: Video Poker (5 Games)

The problem I have with these older casinos is the second-hand smoke. Low ceilings and poor smoke control equipment. How does the Emerald Island rate on this issue?

Honestly, it's old, a little kitschy, and it probably has the same issues with 2nd hand smoke. It doesn't bother me so I probably don't notice!

Is it just slots/VP? or does it have live table games such as Blackjack?
