That's their problem.
Part of the risk you accept by becoming a "donorcycle" rider...

This is why I don't have one. I love being on 2 wheels, but I like being alive more.

Most non-riders who view motorcycle riding as unsurvivable have never heard of the Motorcycle Safety Foundation (MSF) course.

I have friends who have been riding motorcycles for twice as long as I have been alive without incident. I know it's possible.
However, if I get in a car wreck, my chances of surviving are astronomically higher than on a motorcycle. I've been in 4 car wrecks without a scratch. 2 were last year. (None were my fault)
I have some friends that have survived major and minor motorcycle wrecks. It wasn't pretty at all, but they survived.

I have also lost a lot of friends/family/acquaintances on motorcycles.

When motorcycle riding, the trick is to not get into a wreck. Knowing what that four wheeler is thinking of doing before s/he even turns the wheel. And when you do wreck, and you will, to fall in such a way as to survive the ordeal. Which includes protection of protectable human outcroppings against hard unforgiving objects.

Or I can keep a steel cage around me with air bags, air conditioning, heat, and crumple zones.

Free country. The MSF will make you a safer 4 wheel driver also. Known fact. Defensive, intuitive thinking while driving translates to less accidents / wrecks, so MSF veteran motorcycle drivers actually have less accidents.

If ever I get in a wreck, you can rest assured it's not my fault. I'm hyper aware of my surroundings when driving. I look all around before changing lanes and turning. I am always on the lookout for what other drivers are doing because I flat out don't trust them.

Which would you choose: getting into a wreck where's it's not your fault, or not getting into a wreck? I choose the latter.
