So, last year, we watched the 4th festivities from our upper floor hotel room. Looking out over the various neighborhoods, it was apparent that there is a whole lotta airborne fireworks going on. Almost to the level of my favorite 4th of July place, Boise.

So, this year will be our first "on the ground", and I'm trying to figure out what to do. I'm unfortunately not on flava flav's invite list, and don't enjoy watching fireworks with 100,000 of my closest strangers, and then fighting the traffic to get home. Seems they only sell the ground based stuff locally, but you can get real fireworks in Pahrump and Moapa. From my observations last year, it looks like a blind eye is turned towards real fireworks on the 4th. Is that the case? Seems like it would be a bummer to go to jail while celebrating freedom from tyranny.

So what's the scoop on what locals do for the 4th around here?

We usually walk to the parks and watch all the local fireworks going off. I hear Red Rock puts on a good show. Since this is my last 4th of July in Las Vegas I want to do the Strip this time. I was going to have my husband drop me off sometime during the day before he has to go to work. If he has to work really early I may just take the buses so I don't have to spend all day there. Now I'm wondering if the buses run on the 4th of July and if the fireworks on the Strip will be on a Monday night or if they're doing it this weekend and I already missed it.

It looks like the schedule is split between July 3rd and July 4th.

I think I'll go to the Summerlin parade first at 9 am on Monday then head to the Link for their festivities that kick off at 2pm and then over to Caesars for the fireworks that night at 9:10 pm.

Here's a complete list on the 4th: http://www.reviewjournal.com/neon/he...outhern-nevada

Also one of the comments suggests the Ghost Bar at The Palms has a view of all the fireworks on the Strip.

Thank you Merry! I hope you have a wonderful fourth, and I really hope it's not your "last" one in Las Vegas. You seem like a very nice person, and wherever you land, is going to be the better for it. So, i do hope you'll keep this place on your list when you get to make that decision, from what I've seen, this place can use as many warm and caring people as it can get...

Looks like you're right. The review journal link confuses me because it says their party is fri-mon but all the other links say fri-sun.

I wonder if there will be fireworks at all on the Strip Monday night? Everything seems to be tonight.

Am I the only one that feels weird about celebrating the main fireworks display a day early?

One of the best viewing spots in town is the top of the parking garage at Boulder Station! Bring a cooler!

If you want to barely see the fireworks, sure.

Thanks for this post. I would have never known about it. Got a pretty decent spot at the Rio.
