I went down to Bonnie Springs with my family and was shocked by what I saw....the petting zoo was horrendous, and the town in complete disrepair!! It was horrible! Am I over reacting, or is this a common feeling amongst people that visit the ranch?

I actually have not been their in years, but it's always been kind of dumpy. I can't imagine that place brings in much revenue, must be hard to maintain on such a limited budget.

Say more. It has always been somewhat rustic and unkept...but the animals have always appeared to be in reasonable shape and the animal husbandry appeared at least adequate.

What did you find?

I've been there a few times..it's worse when it's hot out! The smell..ewww. But it was nice to see all the animals regardless. Even though I had to hold a scarf over my nose to breathe.

Ehh..Bonnie Springs has always been somewhat of a dump.

Try the Springs Preserve instead.

I took my daughter there last year, it was pretty disgusting. We usually take her once a year, she doesn't care that it is a dump, she just loves the animal. So I think it is a great place to take the kids, and it's a nice drive out there. Just make sure to have the antibacterial soap when you get back to your car.

It's not a real town. Bonnie Springs is just a tourist attraction even though it is old and dilapidated. Just have a scented handkercheif handy to hold over your nose and you should survive.

I used to go out there kind of often after I moved out here in the early 90's. It smelled bad then, too. I did meet Bonnie once, she was out in the animal pens early morning. I asked her if she was "Bonnie" and she spoke with me briefly. I thought that was cool. Last time I was there I was turned off by a parking fee and just turned around and left...
