what other casino would someone compare Suncoast casino to? Is it anywhere as nice as Red Rock Casino? I love Red Rock... its not a 5 star casino but its pretty nice. Im also interested in someones opinion on their poker room. Thanks for any comments ( that aren't sarcastic) lol

Red Rock is at least a star nicer IMO. Suncoast is a slightly older version of South Point, which was South Coast when it opened. Maybe Silverton is a good comparison.

The poker room gets far less action than RR. When I used to frequent it there was mostly 2/4 fixed limit and stud hi lo. No limit got off the ground a few times a week. The players were mostly retirees from Sun City Summerlin. It was typically a friendly crowd including the dealers.

Somewhat relatedly, has anyone been to Rampart lately? I remember when it opened, it's never seemed very popular. Anything worthwhile in there.

Suncoast is similar to South Point once called South Coast which used to be owned by the Boyd Gaming. Suncoast is a pleasant casino to be around in. Don't know much about their poker room

I forgot to add that the last time I played there the max rake was only $3 + $1 for the jackpot but it has been a year or two since I played poker there.

Southpoint is a good comparison, maybe Orleans, too. Upper-middle class place. I haven't been to Rampart in years. It's pretty small but was fairly nice. The times I was in there it was always kind of empty.

They have a killer outdoor area in the middle of the hotel, and the Irish bar inside has a great happy hour

Its much busier than it was as they got some decent gaming guys in there, mostly notably Michael Gaughan. Not bursting at the seams busy, but definitely an improvement from how it was. Good food specials and a super nice hotel if you don't want to be in the middle of a typical casino environment. Still the Summerlin market is overserved in gaming so it probably will never be a home run property no matter who owns/runs it.
