When I lived in LA many moons ago we had Arrowhead deliver the 5 gallon bottles of water. We also rented the cooler. I forgot the cost, exactly, but it wasn't a whole lot.

I would consider doing that when we get to Vegas. Looking at the prices, it would be less than $30/mo for renting the cooler and getting 2-3 five gallon bottles and a couple of cases of 16 oz bottles delivered once a month.

Does anyone still do this? Any favorite companies? A whole-house water system would be okay, but I would end up getting cases of bottled water anyway. I really liked having the cooler back then.

We got a 5 gallon water dispenser and fill up at the glacier machines (2) at the local Albertsons - $1.25 fills up a bottle. We have seven 5 gal bottles, and I fill up when 4 are empty. Two adult household, and we use maybe one 5 gal / month. Every now and then the glacier machine will be empty, or take your quarters - so I have their 800 number and they service the machine within a couple days, and have mailed me cash refunds on what I told them I loss.

A case of 24 water bottles is what, $5 and change? I would lose money with a delivery service.

It's so easy and cheap to install your own R/O filter under your kitchen sink, and never have to deal with delivery of water jugs or buying bottled water again. Is it really that hard to come up with $160 for an R/O filter?

I have an R/0 system installed but I still buy bottled water because I take it with me at all times when Im out working. I have a few cases in my truck and I put them in a cooler full of ice.

I prefer reusable water bottles. I can drink faster out of them, and avoid having to go into a store to buy them. Since they have wide mouths, I partially fill them with ice and don't have to ice them down for them to stay cool.

The amount of water I drink is crazy. I can finish off a 24 pack in 1 day.

We got tired of using the 5 gallon bottles because they became too heavy to lift over time. Would always mess up my wrist and my back. Now we buy the 6 pack of 1 gallon purifed waters from Costco for $4 and lifting a one gallon jug is so much easier. Can pour the water directly into the tea kettle or the coffee pot. We also buy the 36 packs of small bottled water from Costco for $2.79. Since we drink a lot of water in the hotter months. Plus of course there is also the filtered water hooked up to the refrigerator, but my husband uses that more. I cannot use it for my tea because it leaves a film and it does not taste as good as purified from Costco.

Costco does offer water delivery. It is much better than hefting a big-ass bottle to heft up and onto your water dispenser. You just set the bottle down in the unit, and the water dispenses up and out of the spout. Ingenious. But still a little pricey. But I bet better than Arrowhead or Sparkletts price wise.

I made the mistake of going to costco with the so yesterday - never again. It's like voluntarily going to the dmv.
