Actually September 19 would mark 6 months being back...but I have some time to kill at the moment and thought I'd share my experiences so far, good and bad. I'll end this on a positive note so I will start with the bad

-The COL has increased. Rent is more than it was 5 years ago however not even close to California level COL. But I do notice a difference

-Traffic has gotten worse, seems like during morning rush the 95 south is backed up from Craig all the way to the spaghetti bowl and vice versa for evening rush. On the plus side I rarely drive during rush hour so this is not a big deal

-Crime seems worse...or at least Channel 13 is making it out that way

-Insert Coins on Fremont Street is gone...I loved that place

-I'm homesick, for family, friends, my hometown etc. Vegas still doesn't quite feel "home" to me

Ok now for the good
-I'm now in the highest paying job I've ever had I my life at Omnia NightClub

-I recently moved to the Ann/Simmons area in North LV and love it here, nice and quiet

-Mount Charleston is a weekly day trip for me, I enjoy the lodge up there good food drinks and people

-I also love the Aliante Casino, the Salted Lime and their $4 double margaritas are excellent

-Speaking of restaurants the choices are endless, the food in this town is the best! Don Tortaco is my favorite

-I've made some amazing friends who now consider me family, something I can't say about my biological family

-The radio choices are amazing and widely varied. I have 98.5 for my Top 40, 102.3 for my 60s and 70s oldies, 96.3 for my 80s music, 96.7 for EDM, 97.5 for Rap, and 100.5 for my old school rap. And they're always playing a song I like

-The parks of LV and NLV are great and I love going to play Pokemon Go at them. And it's nice to see families out doing things together at them. It seems like so many children grow up in broken homes that it's good to see mothers and fathers out doing things together with their kids.

I guess overall moving back to Las Vegas was a good thing and even though it still doesn't quite feel like home I'm still happy to be back here

Sounds like things are going pretty well. I'm sure it'll feel like home soon enough, especially since you have found a place that you like and have made great friends.

My husband and I really, really, really want to move to Vegas in a few years. I know it's going to be a big culture shock when compared to coastal North Carolina, but we love Vegas so much and are really burnt out on the East Coast. We are looking for a big change, and it seems like we will find one there!

I returned to LV about 2 years ago after being gone about 4 1/2 I think. I totally agree with your comments on the 95 morning traffic (which I am fortunate to only observe from an overpass), the radio stations, and increased cost of rent.

Congrats on landing a job you are happy with.

Sometimes the overly stressed out nature of this place kind of gets to me (my job involves alot of largely higher end customer service) but all the outdoor recreation opportunities more or less balance things out.

Time just flies here from me...I seriously feel like I've only been back a few months!!!

lkmax We are in Winston-Salem. We will be semi-retiring (age 52/55) in two years and are moving to Vegas/Henderson. We have several friends that live there and when we visit it is more like "going home" since we don't do strictly "Strip stuff". Glad to see another home state poster thinking about making the move. N.C. isnt what it used to be and we ready to move west....

I'm also at Aliante occasionally - most recently, I seem to be there Tuesday & sometimes Friday or Saturday - Tuesday being most consistent.

Their breakfast buffet is great & only $7 with player's card - they sometimes mail out 2-for-1 coupons to make it 1/2 of that. The freshly made omelettes are great, thick quality bacon & the usual extras. They often have apple-filled crepes, fried plantains, chorizo & eggs, you get the idea. Better than the more expensive dinner buffet in my opinion.

My old house was just off of Tropical and Simmons. About three blocks behind the Star Nursery on Ann. Glad to hear from you again. I had inquired on the chat thread.

This place never feels like home. Until you leave.
