I tended to enjoy this forum much better, back in the day, when a few controversial opinions existed. One guy I really miss is "Scoop"....Many of the old timers seem to have fallen by the way...even the resident realtor is sorely missed....and we never agreed...

It's really unfortunate as we had some great exchanges regarding the school district, crime statistics, and other well known "issues" within. Scoop had probably the best local culinary information on the forum. It now seems that the board is primarily transplants and Vegas Cheerleaders.....anyway....just a thought....

And by the way, to the OP...as stated, the DMV issue is not a Nevada, or Vegas thing..if that "made you mad"...you ain't seen nothing yet ! If any of the old timers still swoop in on occasion...I hope life is treating you well !

Our apartment complex is very nice and has everything we need. We bought a sofa and chair from the World Market at Colleens and a large dresser at Ashley's. We still have an Amazon box as a coffee table but it will come together in time :P

I ordered the copy of my marriage license from the County Court House in PA so hopefully I will get my license soon. My husband got his today. He made an appointment before he went. Much better!

God luck with your move, Grumpypotpie! It is absolutely beautiful here! You will not miss Buffalo! It's probably going to snow there next week!

And yes, I can't wait to gloat to my East Coast friends about the weather!
Thanks! I've been trying to move out to Vegas for a few years now. I'm in New Mexico right now. I'll be getting there on Sunday.

I've been reading up on the "Real ID' and from what I can gather, I should have been able to get a drivers license with the documents that I had with me. It wouldn't have been a "Real ID' but it would have been a drivers license that would have been good until at least 2020.

Irish4evr it was very annoying. I followed everything the DMV website said they required and in the end was told sorry, no can do. Even the DMV employee that waited on us couldn't show us on the website where the correct information was. It most certainly did make me mad. I'm sure most people would have been. I'm not quite sure what your point is. Am I not supposed to be aggravated after sitting there for 3 hours for nothing? You're a better person than I if you could.

3 hrs at a vegas dmv? Count yourself lucky. And I thought CA DMV was bad. Ive heard some waiting 5 hrs in a NV DMV. Other poster was right. Go to Pahrump. Ive lived on the West side in Summerlin for 4 yrs. In 2 mos, Im moving back to the Midwest. Hope you enjoy Henderson, have a job that pays more than the casinos do and love 100+ temps 4-5 months a year. At least you're not near the strip and stay away from East side of Henderson near Boulder Hwy. Good luck.

My point here is quite simple, did the thought ever once cross your mind that, that three hour wait was caused by people just like you....There seems to be one common denominator with eastern folks..."I want it...and I want it NOW"...three hours at DMV is nothing...

If anyone has a right to complain about "long waits", it just might be those people that have lived here, struggled thru the good and bad....and paid our dues...etc etc. I recall being able to travel across this valley in 15 minutes...try that one out now !

You can do one of two things...stay permanently "mad" or relax, your choice !

Isn't that ID and the problems that come with getting it a FEDERAL creation?

I think you need the same things no matter where you try and get one.

It is indeed exactly that....a national form of identification...When those challenged that specific national ID program, people rebelled....so instead big brother did an end around and created the "Real ID"....to suggest all other forms of ID were "unreal"......seriously ! And at the end of the day...if you want the privelege of using a commercial carrier, or traveling abroad....you will comply...Only one problem...those not able to obtain such could care less....Kinda like proposition 1 on the upcoming ballot....now there is a can of worms !

Ok...I really don't appreciate being lumped into a group of what you call a common denominator with Eastern folks. It was an observation based on what I was used to. Nothing more, nothing less. I am a very patient person who is glad to be here and is very happy with my surroundings. Don't blow things out of proportion. I made a comment based on what I was used to. You want the Blue Ribbon for being a Vegas martyr, you got it. I just want to enjoy my new home and share my experiences. Geez!
