Hopefull you don't have Colorado license plates?

Expired tags are usually a revenue vs criminal issue & as it's no loss to the state you are driving in (as the potential bulk of the revenue generated from a traffic stop goes to the state the tags are issued from) I'm not thinking you would be a high "priority" for a pull over.

However; expired tags will trump your right to "probable cause"; making you an easy mark.

I'd say a bit of paranoia would be justifiable in your case. Watch your rearview, drive in the right hand lane for an easy-out & pray that the county you are in is not using ALR's (automatic license plate readers).

And renew your tags (or is it insurance as well?); don't be an easy target!

If you draw their attention, yes. And God help you if you don't have insurance. That's a ticket you do not want.

Why are you driving on expired registration? Waiting for your paycheck? ( no snark intended )

Not every state requires yearly registration. The police are unlikely to know that your registration is out of date.

Unless the plate has a month/year sticker on it which indicates a past date.

Another consideration Is if your neighbors turn you in for just having an out of state plate.

My friend who comes into town to play poker events quite regularly has had expired tags on his car for 5 years and has never had an issue. His licences plate frame covers most of the expired tag and he never washes his plate.

Thank God that didn't happen to me this time around. Are people still reporting out of state plates and getting cash from the DMV for it?
