Ditto. If you want better-than-here Mexican go to Des Moines, Iowa. Here, well so far everything I've tried sucks. Just plain sucks.

Des Moines, Iowa is indeed a bastion of Mexican food.

Council bluffs area for fried chicken at the long horn !

Just too far to drive and I hate the BS I have to put up with to fly.

If you're going out of state, try the Red Iguana in SLC...some of the best Mexican food outside of Mexico..

Sorry, I'm sure that doesn't help the OP very much...

The O/P did say one near Allen and Farm. Iowa is a bit far to go out for dinner, although I have gone to Nawlins just to eat. Best Mexican food is in Laredo, TX, but you'll have to make it a weekend. Santa Fe, NM, is the best place for New Mexican cuisine. If you can' go there, go to Garduño's in either Fiesta or The Palms. It's known as a Mexican restaurant although New Mexican food is more like it. New Mexican is Mexican, Spanish, American Indian, and Gringo.

There hasn't been a Gardunos at the Palms for over a year. In its place is the worlds largest Hooters. Also, Lindo Michoacan in Centennial is (in my opinion) over rated and over priced. Gardunos on the other hand, at the Fiesta has been consistently pretty good quality and a nice atmosphere, good prices.

Of the restaurants mentioned, I have been to Leticia's, Viva Zapata's, Garduno's, On the Border, and Lindo Michoacan. All are pretty good.
