I have been looking into short term lease for January, job related.
There is a possibility I can extend if things go well.
My concern is just about every review I read mentions
roaches. Even in the luxurious places, I have read about
the problem. If anyone knows of a good place feel free to send.
I have been looking at Henderson but open as my job is
downtown.
One bedroom - 1,000. A month is my budget

Ah yes roaches are a thing here. We had them when we first moved here in our place and it's considered luxury apartments. I was concerned and having the hebby jebbies. I asked the exterminator about it and he said it's all over Las Vegas. No one place is going to be better and that they come out of the ground during the hot summer because it's sweltering under there. After that for the next 2.5 years I never saw the roaches or ants again here and haven't had a problem since. I guess sometimes they can be worse than others.

Yeah my first year I saw about a dozen or so throughout the summer, the last few years I haven't seen any.

We only very rarely get them in the house and that would be one that got lost. You'll see them in yards at night, and on sidewalks, but Las Vegas doesn't have very many yards anymore.

I worried about the same thing. I am terrified of bugs LOL. We have only been here for 3 months but have not seen one bug of any type in the apartment we rented. I did see a caterpillar outside on the sidewalk We have a two bedroom in Bay Breeze apartments in Henderson. A two bedroom is $925 a month + $25 pet fee for our dog, so well within your budget. Send me a DM if you want any more details.

They aren't everywhere. I'm in henderson and there's lots of these little bug eating geckos here with no roaches. Not an apartment mind you but i have dealt with roaches in the past. If the complex is infested, any attempts to rid yourself of them are futile. Come back at night and look at any place you're interested in. Talk to some people there.

They are called field roaches. Big ones that they call water bugs back east. They show up every summer, outside. You might get one or two who sneak in the house to die in the AC as their final wish in life. They are nothing to worry about and will die off in winter.

If you get asian or german cockroaches (the smaller brown ones that nest in people's houses ) you have a problem that is unrelated to Las Vegas and more related to a lack of pest control combined with neighbors that brought them from somewhere.

I'm surprised to hear you have roaches there.
I always thought they preferred a wet humid climate.

It appears you are in Florida...by comparision bugs are basically much less of an issue here. What we do have seems easily managable using pest control assuming you keep a place reasonably clean.

I would look for a new/newer complex and try rent in a building that doesn't have family (multi bedroom) units.

If your house is conected to a sewer system, your house sits over a wet humid climate no matter how dry the desert.
