I don't really know how many more times I have to say this but I have had several different modems with the same problem.

This extends to phones, tablets, and laptops and 2 different houses.

I don't want to sound rude or anything but I really don't want help diagnosing my internet. Even if you came over, waved a magic wand, and fixed it, I STILL don't want to give Cox any more money unless I have to.

The only thing I want to know is if anyone here has Century Link fiber optic internet and if it is any good.

I run several video cameras along with three users at the same time. Kept having system go offline when cox rebooted. I purchased my own combination all in one modem/router. Hooked up easily now no rental fee. Speed is great and also signal is strong enough to use on my patio. NETGEAR Nighthawk AC1900 Dual-Band Router with DOCSIS 3.0 Cable Modem Black C7000-100NAS - Best Buy
No matter if I had cox or century link I would have this system. Not sure if that is helpful or not.

century link fiber is only offered in sketchy industrial areas because they're only laying it out in hopes that Google buys it up.

they have no plans to roll out fiber to the suburbs and their support for current subscribers is nil.

that being said I share your disdain for Cox. But CL is no better, maybe even worse. their billing system doesn't work at all, ever.

Probably because people won't answer questions about it.

3 points for using disdain.

I'm calling them tomorrow. I figure they'd have to be trying to give worse service than Cox.

I'm not impressed with Cox either. I upgraded to the 150 Mbps speed package and their speed test shows that I barely pull over 50 Mbps. I called their support and the guy said it looked like their were more complaints in my area but offered no information on what, if anything, would be done, and in what time frame. If all I can get is 50, I may as well downgrade to the 50 Mbps plan and save $10.

I was having a similar issue. I was paying for 50 and getting 6 for a long time. I threatened to cancel and suddenly I was getting 50 again.
It went a little faster for a while then went back to crap.

i'm paying for 150mbps and routinely get about 125mbps, so i guess i'm very lucky in that regard...

honeymoon is over though, i just checked how much i'm being charged and my rate is now $88 (up from $65)

$88 for internet and nothing else is way too much to pay
