The new parking fee schedule is here. There is free parking, but only for one hour. Also

Quote:
Nevada Residents
Self-parking up to 24 hours is complimentary* for guests with a valid Nevada driver's license until 12/29/2016
Scan your valid Nevada Driver’s License for entry and exit (you do not need to take a ticket)
Not applicable during special event pricing and does not apply to valet-parking

Default New Parking info for the MGM properties

The verdict is in ( according to the MGM executive in the Review Journal). Parking for locals will be FREE until at least Dec.29th. You must use the bar code on your license to be able to park for free. Everyone else (besides hotel guests) will pay $10 if they are there for 4 hours or more. Wondering.... how many people park at the casinos that aren't local or staying at the hotel overnight? I welcome comments. Thanks!

I'd gladly not park there and just walk than have them scan the barcode of my license... but that's just me

I suspect this will become all or nothing among the major Strip hotels. If it is successful for MGM the others will all follow. If not MGM will have to back off. Time will tell.

Looks like about 8-10 dollars a day...even for hotel guests....I hope this falls flat on it's face. I have a card which will make my parking for free, but I am still going to play elsewhere.

Self parking for 24 hrs is complimentary to locals until 12/29/2016. The solves my monthly luncheon parking problems until the end of the year. After that they only offer an hour of free parking which won't cover the full time of the luncheons, or showing people around, or meeting medical spouses who come with their partners for conventions.

I'll have to make a plan to see the rest of the strip by the end of this year before everything changes for good. We leave six months after that. Too bad this happened really. We were hoping to look at coming back after that but this isn't encouraging if it goes the way resort fees did. Which the travel industry believes it will and that it will change everything. I guess time will tell.

If you are paranoid about your license being scanned, you should also fear the constant video surveillance you'll be under while walking from your new parking destination.

I think this is going to cost them a lot of business. It used to be easy, simple, quick, and cheap to get in and out of the casinos. By ending that, a lot of people are just not going to bother to show up.

Are folks confused by the concept of "free parking for NV residents"?
