Anyone that doesn't believe that their job cannot or will not be fully automatable in the next few years to a decade needs their head examined.

Computer assisted diagnosing is here, particularly in radiology. Technology assisted surgery is in play. The medical transcriptionists have been cut way back because of voice recognition technology, and coders are losing out to coding systems with natural language processing and AI.

Some people say that we should be getting a better quality of life with all of the extra hours of productivity brought about by these changes. ( ie; 25 hour work weeks with full pay ). I tend to doubt that will ever happen.

One area that has not been automated enough in health care is back office administration. I'm referring to the armies of employees who do nothing to care for patients, but instead are involved in billing insurance companies. They are skilled at filing claims in such a way as to maximize potential reimbursements... and then at the insurance companies, there are more armies of people who are skilled at reviewing the claims to knock down reimbursements.

All of that is dead weight -- over 2.5 claims filing people employed for every doctor, plus about the same at the insurance companies.

Imagine a world where we could eliminate all that dead weight loss. Prices charged by health care providers could come down at the same time that prices for health care insurance could come down in lock step. Everyone wins, except for those claims processors who would be out of a job, but I'm A-OK with that.

That's not for an automation thread, especially a Vegas centric (implying a casino resort industry) automation thread.

Yes, but the thread had tilted towards health care -- computer assisted diagnosis.

Yeah, but your talking about pricing and financing. If you want to talk about how to automate the current billing and claims proceeding, that would be on topic
