You might want to reconsider. The cost of living has really skyrocketed in Las Vegas in recent years. And the schools are ranked 48 out of 50 states for almost the worst schools in the nation (Morgan Quinto Press). I have experience with them and can assure you that they are horrible. There is a lot of crime, lots of gangs, drugs, etc. It's sin city, a place built on a dream of fast money, gambling, stripping, prostitut ion, etc. It's not a place to raise kids, not by a long shot. I left there after living there over 9 years. Why? While living there single it was fine. I didn't think it was a place to raise kids so I left.

Excuse Redwingfan...she is our chief doomsayer.

That said Vegas is not always a friendly place. It is a hard driving town and can easily eat you up and spit you out.

Jobs are good in hospitallty and general clerical. Pay iis reasonably good after a while. It takes time to penetrate the areas with the better jobs. Apartments are relatively inexpensive - two bedrooms start at around $600. Get a pretty nice condo rental at around 800. Cost of living is moderate by a west coast standard. May be expensive if coming from a small midwestern town.

Before you come here you need some reasonable resources...enough money to live 90 days and a car. If you can't meet that think three times before you come.

The streets here are not paved with gold and a lot of folk end up in the gutter. Great town but tough with a kid if you hit here without resources. It is not a nice place that way.
