My infiniti got 19mpg. My van gets 14-17mpg. Even my focus only got 23mpg in city. But none of those vehicles were nearly as versatile as my truck. My Tacoma was pretty great as well. I think it was pushing 28mpg. Not entirely sure it was a decade ago or so.

My Avalanche was pretty expensive to run. 16mpg.

But seriously, the diesels can get 30+mpg with a tuner. The Ford ecoboosts can get high 20s. The Dodge and Chevy v6 can do pretty well. Just avoid the stupid v8. The v6 are putting out more power than the v8s of previous generations. There's really no need for the v8. If you tow a lot, get the diesel.

We prefer our truck on longer trips, much better ride quality and noise isolation than our car. Gas mileage isn't as good as the newer trucks.

In the Las Vegas Valley with an estimated 30-50 car accidents every day, crash protection?

simply put, if you have a house you almost need a pick up truck for hauling stuff around /projects etc.... I wish i had a truck instead of a sedan.

For many people, it is a personal style thing. A pickup truck is a part of a personal lifestyle brand.

Really? That's usually just the opposite. What truck and car?

Trucks are 100% better on trips. My avalanche was fantastic on a long trip. I logged 36,000 miles in one year with my Ram. Most cars started hurting after a couple hours being in them.
3 hours in my Infiniti, an alleged luxury car, and my wife and I were in pain. My Caddy wasn't much better.
The Versa was terrible. The Focus not so great. I've only had 2 cars that were actually comfortable on long trips. My 89 Cressida, and my 88 300zx with leather power seats. I could spend 10 hours in those things and not be fatigued. I've had 66 vehicles. Trucks are the best.

If you asked me to take a trip across country in a Bentley or an F150, I am taking the f150.

No, I'd rather be in the Bentley. I'd also much rather DRIVE the Bentley than the pickup.

2006 Toyota Tundra Crew Cab versus 2009 Honda CR-V (currently) but we've had a BMW 325I, various Volkswagens, Mazda Miata, PT Cruiser, Toyota Matrix. The Tundra has such a soft quiet ride compared to all our other vehicles.

Bentley are kind of boring actually. Nothing but a status symbol. Ferraris and Lambos are much better grand touring cars, but you have to compromise a lot to drive them across country. In a truck you compromise nothing.
