That's too many words and too cryptic. You could have just dumbed it down like the bumper sticker "guns don't kill people, people do" or whatever it is

Of course guns are here to stay, the powers that be inject fear into society, people buy guns, powers that be profit

Why are we wasting our time with guns anyway, where can I get my hands on a rocket launcher? I feel that will be more effective than being able to put 1,000 rounds into an intruder in less than a minute

Not nearly as handy as a pistol. Try hanging an RPG-7 on your belt. Doesn't work so well.

In addition to the obvious ideological resistance, there is an economic reason: Decades of delay means the opportunity for lawyers to work. Many years of appeals means many years in which lawyers can earn paychecks. There is little legal work for someone who has already been executed.
