Disappointing and self-serving really
They care about their edge on the floor--their real money is made there

There's the problem right there.
Not as much footage to be seen as one would think because many cameras were 'out'.
Lets see if that makes it out on the news.

And who's watching these camera's? I can just see someone looking at those camera's, and after a brief spell, bored, they whip out their Smartphones.

Same with the other camera's on the Strip! Who's watching them intently every minute?

All the casinos have surveillance/people. I dont know who is watching at what time obviously.

Whatever was recorded provides the timeline.

Recording being key. How important is the video from anywhere other that the casino floor?

They've been started. Now, the security guard who got shot "Disappeared" before he was set to interview.

Both MGM and metro need to get it together.

other than keeping a watch on the casino floor, the Mandalay (as with many other large facilities; malls, sporting venues, office buildings, etc.) primary use of CCTV is to protect themselves from personal injury lawsuits. Saw one estimate that there were 3000 cameras in the Mandalay facility. I bet most of those are watching the casino and money rooms. They put a lot of these on a screen showing 4 or 9 cameras on one monitor but it's pretty difficult to watch and process much more that four views at once. These CCTV systems are intended to be able to be reviewed later to catch an incident that already happened, providing they have enough memory on their DVRs to go back the needed 4 or 5 days when the shooter or other incident occurred. Most legitimate operations should be able to go back at least 30 days.

In Las Vegas, the casino is always watching

The shooter himself unsuccessfully sued for a slip n fall injury at another casino that was dismissed in 2014. Maybe that was his whole motivation, makes about as much sense as anything else.

Don't believe Paddock lost his suit. It was settled. Does not appear to be a definitive outcome in the news reports.

well the lvmpd now says mgm has the right time the security guard was in the stairway and couldnt gain entry as the shooter had screwed the door shut so he went to a different floor then back to the 32nd where he was shot at 4-5 minutes to get back to the same stairway makes sense 2 me
