Las Vegas and Nevada;

Words cannot express our collective pain and sorrow over this tragic event. Be strong and know that our hearts are with you.

Every time one of these tragedies occur, I ask, "Will this be the last time?" but it never is. My heart goes out to everyone in Las Vegas and to every single person who has been a victim of these horrible crimes.

This tragedy could have happened in any city that hosts music festivals in the country. Unfortunately it happened here in a city very reliant on tourism. I hope people don't turn their backs to Las Vegas because in a lot of ways, this tragedy has shown how strong our local community really is. The lines for donating everything from blood to food/supplies for the victims were insane (in a good way!)

I've only lived here full time for just over 2 years but I call this place home now and I was pleasantly surprised by the reaction of the community to this tragedy. While this might very well hurt our tourism image, it has shown the world that Las Vegas is a strong community and not just a transient city. If we end up losing some tourists, I feel we will gain some long term residents who are currently living here and now feel like they are part of a larger community.

9/11 didn't hurt NY's tourism for long and certainly not its real estate market. We'll bounce back.

Yes it could of happened anywhere with out door concerts. Look how many hotels here have functions/concerts outside all summer.

I'm pretty sure most rational people are aware that these days mass acts of violence can occur basically anywhere and that people are at a slightly increased risk when attending events/places that draw a large number of people. Las Vegas was simply the profoundly unlucky target of this years madman...could have just as easily been any other city.

The problem is most people are not rational. They're emotional and that causes all kinds of problems.
