So being a new resident of about 2.5 months, everything is going well. However, my hands are getting a little dry.

Early 30s man, no health issues, good shape. What do you recommend moisturizing wise? Pleas advise. Thanks so much.

Vaseline Intensive Care Essential Healing works best for me. Not greasy. Works on hands and feet. My sports massage therapist used it so I figured it must be ok. Also it's available at stores in the small travel size to put one in your coat.

I also use Gold Bond Diabetic and I prefer it to others mentioned. Of course, it is all personal preference.

Note: it is possible you may start to develop tiny blisters or scaly dry patches on your fingers or cracks in the skin. If that is the case, you probably should see a doctor -- it might be Eczema (basically skin dyshidrosis). The doctor may prescribe a hand lotion with a mild steroid. An example is Triamcinolone Acetonide Cream 0.1%. It is inexpensive and works wonders.

Mild soap such as Dove for sensitive skin. Luke warm water when bathing.

Moisturize, moisturize, moisturize.

I like something greasy at night (Aquaphor or plain Vaseline).

During the say, a lighter cream is fine. Many examples are listed in the posts above. (If your hands are very scaly, try Eucerin Intensive Repair HAND cream.)

I agree with the prescription steroid Triamcinolone 0.1% or 0.025% ointment (not cream) for more severe rashes. Use it when you have a red rash or severe itch. Use only a moisturizer if you're just dry, however. (Keep it away from your face.)

Welcome to the desert.

real men don't use hand lotion

pretty much anything works, you just have to remember to use it. i never had to use moisturizer until moving to this city. a good reminder to do so is (somewhat painful) cracked skin/knuckles.

i would suggest also moisturizing your feet too. wearing flip flops / sandals in the summer months takes its toll very quickly.
