I know for a fact they were doing at least some of the filming last August and their comments afterwards refer to things over 2 and 3 months, so seems in line with that timing. The story may seem a bit old since they talked about the housing crisis and the people living on the fringe of society, both of those could have been filmed every year for the last 8 years.

I had a squatter move into my neighborhood during the housing crisis. He didn't cause trouble, just didn't maintain the lawn. I think he was one of those professional squatters who produce fake leases. My dad had one in his neighborhood that was likely cooking meth. They tore that house up.

I don't actually think it's been much of a problem out here in the burbs for at least a year. We have a new set of problems now.

You can't throw out a tidbit like that without elaborating.

Questionable renters from out of state. There's a reason our murder rate went up. Out of state cash investors bought a lot of distressed properties here. Turned them into rentals. Section 8 crosses state boundaries. And a solid payment is what the out-of-state investors want. California has outpriced their underclass. Guess who got them?
