EA - How do you make a complaint to Lyft?

Used Lyft this evening for a ride home from a steak house in the NW. 5 miles. Ordered Lyft and got about 5 different drivers in 10 minutes while standing outside in light ran. Eventually got a Lyft but was annoyed...particularly as our cell phone was going dead at this time.

Tried to complain but found there is no way to complain about lousy performance of the App. The help stuff simply runs you into dead ends that don't apply. You can ***** about drivers or other passengers but not about Lyft.

This is three old people, one of whom is handicapped standing in the cold and light rain while the app screws around.

First off, you have to understand that 180,000 CES attendees were really taxing the lyft system.
The strip had some pretty big prime bonuses. 550% in some areas. Your 5-10 dollar ride with no prime is not appealing to people making 50 dollars on the same length ride on the strip. Luckily for passengers, there's seldom any prime unless a huge event like CES or EDC is in town.

The driver thing is partially lyft and partially crap drivers.

Let's say when you request a ride I am 10 minutes away. Well Roberto Just dropped off someone 5 minutes from you. They will reroute the call to Roberto. Roberto doesn't want to take the ride so he cancels. It swaps to Jeane who is 7 minutes away. Johnny just started his day 3 minutes from you so the call gets rerouted to him.

I promise you this is equally frustrating for drivers. Imagine Heading North on LVB being in the right hand turn lane ready to turn onto Sands towards Paradise to pick up someone at Wynn South valet when you get rerouted to Trump Tower, the opposite direction. Happens all the time and it's soooo frustrating. They need to fix that.

Another problem is time. No one wants to drive 15 minutes to pick someone up. Driving 15 minutes to take someone a mile costs us money. You get 3.75 for that ride despite driving 11 miles in total in 20 minutes.
A lot of drivers will cancel long pick ups like that. Anything over 5 minutes drive should pay the driver something. Under 5 minutes is no big deal.

Here is where Lyft really sucks. I had been thinking that Lyft was charging passengers more than they tell us so I did an experiment. I used my Wife's account to request a ride 1 mile down the street. Should have cost 5 dollars. That is what Lyft reports to us that they charge. We get 3.75 lyft gets 1.25
Well, I take the ride, drive down the block and drop off the passenger. I get the 3.75. I go back home and it charged my wife 16.70. For a 1 mile ride.
So I reported it to lyft through her account. They responded that the ride was calculated correctly and to basically suck it up.
So I reported it through my driver's app. I stated that I took the passenger one mile and was paid 3.75 while she was charged 16.70.
They messaged back that they would credit my account 12.51 to make up the difference. Then they sent a breakdown of time and mileage that didn't match where I went.

They took care of me, but screwed the passenger. I run a lyft driver's page on facebook and I posted about it. A lot of people have similar stories.

My business launches this month. Once it's profitable and I can quit driving, I am taking all the things I have compiled to the media. I would do it now but I can't afford to be deactivated.
I have quite a few screen shots of discrepancies.

Their line rides are the worst. ALL the drivers absolutely hate them.

If you are not familiar with Line it's the shared rides. 2 or more different people can take rides going the same basic direction. It's supposed to save them money, but it doesn't. It just makes more money for lyft and screws the driver.

So let's say I pick up Tammy at NYNY and Betty at Monte Carlo. Tammy wants dropped off at Fashion show and Betty is going to Stratosphere.
Tammy's ride would be about 5 dollars to me. Betty would be 6.50 or so. That is after lyft fees. 11.50 in my pocket.
Tammy's ride would take me 10 minutes. Betty would take me 12 or so. So either one is not terrible.

But when I take both of them, I get 5.85 and it takes me 32 minutes. So I drive further, take longer, haul more weight, and get paid less. meanwhile lyft charges both of them 7.47
Lyft tells me that they charged 4 and some change to each passenger.
So lyft gets 15 dollars, I get 5.85 and spend 2 on gas to get them there.

Lyft is a great service to a point. Lyft's business practices are not very good but better than cabs.

Drivers can make good money, which makes it hard to argue with them, but it should be more. I put 30,000 miles on my new car in 2017. I went through 10 oil changes, brake pads front and rear, front rotors, and a transmission flush. Tires will need replaced soon.
It's hard to go after lyft and say "I made 1600 last week, but it should have been more. People hear 1600 and it sounds really good. But with wear and tear, gas (I spend 800 a month on gas) depreciation, and time spent driving plus having to take out for taxes, it's not that great. If I didn't need the flexibility to be able to work on weld projects and start my business I would have gone back to construction a long time ago.

In summation, I think the biggest problem with your ride tonight was 180,000 people + bad weather + normal lyft usage + your location making it not the best.

Many of these internet companies think they don't need customer service. NO way to get ahold of anyone. Thus avoiding having to take responsibliity. Ticks me off too.

These ride sharing companies are having enough issues around the world. They have been kicked out of some countries.

I'd call or write to someone, attorney general. NV consumer protection. Ask who you'd file a complaint with.
Post what you find out.

I get that CES is here. But that is not a valid issue. Nor an excuse. Lyft and Uber are here cause the cabs were doing exactly what you explained here.

Now Lyft and Uber are doing the same thing, not picking up off the strip cause more money was to be made on the strip.

Being another cab service was not while they were allowed to operate in NV. Might as well kick them out and go back to the cabs.

Uber is no better. Went to a concert at T-mobile. UBer interface SUCKED at that time. (I'll never use it , the person I was with uses it but really does know what the heck she was doing.) We went from waiting, 5 minutes. Ordered inside tmobile so it'd be there when we walked out the door. Cars kept disappearing from the screen. picking up other places. Finally got one 90 minutes later. Then friend and driver are arguing about movies, what's good etc. WTH! Worst ride I ever had, and wasn't just the driver fault. We were on the strip, what was the excuse here? Didn't want to pick up at Tmobile. This was July, heat was unbelievable. Longest I have ever stood outside in the heat in 18 years of living here.

You mean when 30,000 people get out of a concert and try to get a lyft and uber all at the same time there's a problem?
NOOOOOO WAAAAYYYY!!!!

Seriously how many drivers do you think there are? Now how many do you think there are within a mile of tmobile? Nowhere near 30,000.

And with 30,000 people trying to leave at once, even if you get a driver, chances are he is stuck in insane traffic because the cops here are only good at shooting people and making traffic worse.

I can't speak too much as a rudeshare passenger, but I've driven both uber and lyft from day one here, and as a alcoholic, drug addicted felon, with a history of seizures, I am grateful to earn a little money driving people around town. And, how did T-mobile keep the addition of 10,000 seats under the radar?

We all know you're a cab driver. You ain't getting through the background check with a felony. So just pipe down.

You are aware that T mobile is NOT the only thing going on there, right?
Nyny has Zumanity running between 7 and 9 then an encore at 930.
Ka at MGM
Chris Angel at Luxor
One at Mandalay bay.
If you don't see how 30,000 people are requesting a ride at the same time, I suggest getting your eyes checked.

I know you drive a cab. I know you've tried to get into NYNY or Luxor after a game or concert. You know damn well it's insane traffic. You know damn well there are thousands of people waiting for a ride.

Your posts are Insanely inaccurate. I drove cab from 1998 to 2017. I began rudeshare on the day they legally entered Nevada. I began XL making 85% of $3.00/mi. And since my transgressions, there is no way I could have continued to drive cab, but was fast tracked as a rudeshare driver, possibly because I have many, many permits and licenses here. And, you're the only person in LV that knows about the 50% increase of seating at T-mobile arena. Youre truly a "Vegas insider". WOW

There are many people walking to their hotels, driving their own cars, etc. So even the true number of 20,000 is inaccurate.

We left early so we could get the heck out. We were out waiting 20 minutes before anyone else came out.

No excuses. The reason they are here is casue the cabs weren't going off the strip so they are no better than the cabs.

I finally told friend to pipe down about movie talk. I think even the driver was getting ticked off.

Yes, that coupled with the fact the powers that be want desperately to be a city of the future, rudeshare has not produced the promise they made to both passengers and drivers. The really bad part of the equation is, rudeshare does absolutely NO vetting of drivers. Without fingerprinting of drivers the rest of their "background" check is a moot point. I am living proof of that. Expect sooner than later for LVBS to be closed to all traffic other than commercial vehicles, with dedicated lanes, and areas for autonomous vehicles.

When I drop people off at T mobile, I tell them to walk around for about an hour after the show.

After one of the bigger fights, there were thousands of people trying to get a ride all at once and the phone towers couldn't keep up. I had ZERO signal where I normally have a lot. NO ONE could get a ride. I sat there with my app on just waiting for a ping. People were knocking on my windows holding cash to get a ride out of there. None of them had signal either. A well dressed man and his insanely hot wife won by holding up a 100 dollar bill. Took them to Cosmo. Easiest 100 I ever made.

This is still a new service using new technology and old technology. There are going to be some issues.
The casinos are great at blocking signal so that doesn't help anything.
But overall it works pretty well.

I keep hearing that drivers don't service off the strip. That is patently false.
A lot of drivers won't pick up on the strip at all. They avoid it. On any average day, you'll wait less than 10 minutes anywhere around town for a ride.

Major conventions and events will, however, attract more drivers to the strip. There's not that many big events to be all mad about it.

I start the app at my house at hollywood/vegas valley and pick up whoever needs to go somewhere. Then I try to pick up where I drop them off, no matter where it is. There have been days I never made it to the strip at all.
There's days I do 30 rides and only 1 or 2 were on the strip.
