Hey guys!

My house has an existing fireplace which you can use either wood or natural gas. We've been using the natural gas option.

We also have a vacation house in northern California that has a wood stove. Boy, it really puts out the heat! So, I was wondering if anyone knows of a fireplace store in Vegas that would install a wood stove insert in our fireplace? I don't even know it's that's even possible due to current codes.

When was your house built? Homes in Clark County built since 1990 do not have a wood burning option. There are differences in the structure for wood burning.

Home Depot and others have them available and I suspect can arrange installation.

Dunno about Vegas, but that is exactly what we did. The woodstove outlet here knew exactly what we were talking about, so they sold us the stove and put in in place for us.

They manufactured a metal plate to seal off the chimney and then ran the flue through a hole they had made in the plate. That keeps heat from rising up the chimney while the stove is working.

First, though, we thoroughly cleaned the inside of the fireplace. When it was clean we chalk painted the inside of the fireplace. Made it look much neater.

We used a stove like this:

Our home was built in 1989 so we're good.

I would like to do this too. My house is old enough. The gas doesn't put out enough heat to even notice the difference. A wood stove sure would!
