When we lived in Florida, house was set at 74 to be comfortable if we weren't doing much. Had to turn it down to 73-72 if we were up doing stuff. Set at 72 at night to sleep under a ceiling fan.

In Vegas, temp is set at 76, bedroom down to 74 at night under ceiling fan.

When it gets cold here, we have the heat set at 66-68 at night and 68-70 during the day (we're home most of the time).

Electric bill averaged out is $110/month, gas adds more in winter but not more than another $30 or so.

Power bills in FL (all electric, no gas) were $140/month on budget billing (averaged out over the year).

So, our HVAC cost is about the same.

Don't even ask me about our HVAC bill when we lived in Illinois. Some summer/winter months were $500!

We've got some of the lowest rates. Both California and Texas have deregulated. Texas in 2002, seemed to turn out pretty good. Cali? Not so much.

Question 3 on Nevada energy deregulation, is coming up in the November 6, 2018 General election.

Yup. But the heat index is around 98. Compare it to Dallas who is also running into a heat wave...

Dallas Heat Wave 2018

So temperature wise Las Vegas is warmer but the heat index favors LV by almost 10 degrees.

Lucky you live Vegas!

I've been in south Texas, and southeast coastal Japan, and I don't miss the humidity one bit.

Love the LV heat. Born and raised here and it's my favorite. Before we know it, the summer monsoon will roll in.
Always a blast...only about a month or so away from now

I'm not too far from Henderson Airport and my thermometer never hit 111.. maybe 107 on that same day

I take my temp in the shade and I also used a 2nd and very accurate thermometer to verify, both showing the same result

I would have to say temperatures must vary a fair amount even in a small area of say 2 or 3 square miles

This heat doesn't bother me at all. I don't even turn the AC on until I go to bed at night. I was in Raleigh last week and it was 96 with 55% humidity and I wanted to pass out. Give me 110 and dry any day.
