So I have a newer Toyota truck that I'm selling. Is there anything illegal about me parking it in the empty lot next to Centennial Toyota and sitting in the bed of the truck on a Saturday with a sign that reads, "Avoid the sales tax and buy my Tundra!" I realize that I could be there all day Saturday with nothing that comes of it, but I was just curious if there's anything the people at Centennial Toyota can do to get me to leave the vacant lot.

Try it and find out. Could make for a clever social media experiment

Of course it would be nice to be armed with some knowledge of the law and your rights if they try to remove you

Hopefully some of our resident experts can chime in

It will be towed away and you will pick it up at impound. Private property AND right on the dmv site, the first thing it says, that it is illegal to sell a personal vehicle on an empty lot.

Even if I'm sitting in the bed of the truck the entire time?

It is private property, so you will be asked to leave; if you don't then you will be cited for trespass. Nevada Revised Statute 207.200

Most likely you will just be cited. Not even offered the chance to leave

Thanks for the replies everyone! Besides the Craigslist/Facebook, anyone know of a decent Consignment lot and what I can expect to pay? CarMax offered me $30,000 but I think I can get close to $35,000 privately

The NW corner of Durango and Alexander is used as a consignment lot on the weekend. Parcel is owned by BLM so the only person who can ask you to leave is a Fed and they obviously do not. City harasses them once in a while but not often.

If you're with your vehicle, it's not going to get towed and very unlikely you would be cited for trespassing, just asked to leave, if anything.

I would only leave a vehicle on BLM land and not for more than a day (drop off in morning, pick up in evening). They can tow it, but unlikely in that span of time.

Just put it up on Craigslist and maybe Auto Trader. Anybody willing to spend 35k on a used vehicle is already looking for that item. You don't just drive by, see a sign, and decide you'll buy a 35k used truck.
