My wife's parents are coming next month probably in their late 70s.
We really have not done any sightseeing on Las Vegas so I'm not real sure where to take them.

Reading this looks like the Valley of Fire might be the most interesting.
I was surprised the mars scenes for Total Recall were filmed here also Star Trek Generations where Capt Kirk died.
It looks like it would be a nice drive.
Drop by the Springs Preserve they will definitely enjoy it. Start in the morning to walk around the gardens and then head on indoors when it starts getting really hot to check out the Nevada State Museum and other exhibits within the Springs Preserve. Have a meal or snack at the cafe afterwards.

If you just want to do something pleasant, but not to strenuous, take them to Floyd Lamb Park at Tule Springs. Walk around the old dude ranch buildings, and stroll around the trails surrounding the fishing ponds. Take pictures of the herd of peacocks that have lived there forever. There are one or two white ones too. It's shady there and a bit cooler. Most people, and that will include you as newbies here, can't believe we have such a wonderful park in Las Vegas. If they like critters, take them to the Gilcrease Nature Sanctuary.

You could also take them to a museum and be inside where it's cool. Everyone loves the Mob Museum, and the Atomic Test Site Museum. Especially 70 somethings.

Yes planning on the Mob Museum and the Atomic Test Site. Also that place that has all the old signs.
That Floyd Lamb Park sounds interesting too.

Springs Preserve

This would also be a possibility. Thanks for the info.

My husband is 71 and I am 68. We visited Vegas the week following Mother's Day.
Sunday we drove up and down the Strip and noticed the Mormon Park and made a note to go back later.
Monday--went to Death Valley
Tuesday--Zion National Park
Wednesday--Hoover Dam and Lake Meade
Thursday--We visited a museum in North Las Vegas that told about the first settlers in the area that we had seen on Sunday. We thought we were just going to a park to relax but it turned out to be a real treat.
Friday we went to South Pointe which was beside where we stayed in The Grandview of Las Vegas.
Then we rested because we were leaving Saturday morning to come the 2,200 mile trip back home via I-40.
Sorry we missed the Red Rock place. It was a good trip. I took three swim suits and didn't use them once. We belong to a pool at home. Those National Parks were not coming home with us except in pictures.

We left our home on Tuesday morning and returned home on Tuesday night 2 weeks later. Altogether we drove about 5000 miles. We were planning to make the trip about one more week long but my husband misplaced one of his medications and the weather channel said it was snowing where we had planned to go. Our car needed an oil change too. The smoke from the fires in California were polluting the air. It was time to come home.

Now that's the way to do a vacation in Las Vegas. See one casino you've seen them all.

The scenery is great, I enjoy it. But the village is having some tough times.. Poor marketing, in my opinion.

Lake Mead North Shore Rd. rivals any scenic byway I've ever driven for natural beauty, and I've driven a bunch of them.
