Anyone know?
Agreed. I always enjoyed stopping in there to see what they had, made quite a few purchases over the years. Not an inexpensive place but at least they always had stuff that was at least a little different than everywhere else.

I will miss their hit or miss selection...shopping is way more fun when you aren't sure what they will have each time.

They didnt do anything. Most everything was overpriced especially for used and what was cheap wasnt anything I personally wanted. I have good luck buying my stuff online.

Wow, we've only lived here 3 years, and here goes another of our favorite little "gems" (glaziers being the first). Whenever we went to Lowes, we would stop in and browse looking for deals. We have a very nice wall unit that we paid just over $400 for (over $3K new), a big coffee table we paid $20 for, and a nice Lane cedar chest we paid around $60 for that we got from them. Their prices could be very good, or very expensive. We'll certainly miss our treasure hunts.

Agree, mostly overpriced poor condition furniture. I guess not enough people were fooled that that is the definition of antique.

LoL I don't think I ever saw anything that would actually qualify as an antique.

Stuff seemed to fit three categories.

New.

Average used stuff.

Used nouveau riche stuff that made one wonder what the rest of residence looked like.

I really don't think many looking for with antique furnishings of value would be shopping at a used furniture consignment store in Las Vegas. Antiques worth moving here to begin with would remain worth taking with you and in the event that isn't possible that is where estate sales or other auctions come into play. I don't recall Colleen's advertising as advertising as anything other than a consignment store for used stuff but I really haven't seen any of their ads in years.

What is amazing to me is how many long established businesses around town survived the bubble only to close now.

Times really are changing.

The Salvation Army uses the money for what it was intended for. Charities like Goodwill only give a small fraction of what is donated to those in need.

Many of the pieces of furniture at Colleen's comes from the World Market and is brand new demo pieces. Practically everything on the floor was originally very high quality. It is much higher quality than you will find at some of our new furniture stores here. Like the ones who claim you can buy a couch from them for $800. Keep in mind I'm not comparing them to good stores like Ethan Allen, Lazboy and Basset.

Did you not read the title or first post, the store is closed.

Therefore no one cares about how good their furniture is/was now that it is unattainable.

I used to like Goodwill. Then Goodwill International(Greedwill) took over, and wrecked the concept of it. Now we go there maybe once or twice a year, when it used to be every week up to a year ago.
