I am aghast at the number of posters here that don't give a damn about anyone but themselves. How the hell is someone who is a paraplegic supposed to fend for themselves? Yeah, I know, "They can get a job." And pray tell me how are they going to afford the necessary items to not only get there, but simply get out of their house?

When they do get there are you going to volunteer to feed them and take them to the toilet?

I didn't think so.

You're conflating a few different things here.

Homeless people, by and large, made their bad choices and are suffering the consequences.
I have no sympathy. I work, just about nonstop, to prevent myself from being homeless. I have my issues. I also have permanent injuries to deal with. Still work my butt off.

The disables are just as capable of making it as anyone else for the most part. We have people with no legs working to pay for a drift car habit.
A friend of mine is all jacked up. Been that way from birth. Dude has the best attitude you'll ever see. Has a full time job, house, and a couple cars that are modified for going fast.
Stephen Hawking wrote books and gave lectures. He couldn't move at all.
There's a close up magician with no hands.
Jason Becker has been writing music with ALS for 20 years. He can't move at all.
I'm sorry but using a disability as an excuse is just that. An excuse. I don't accept it.
I'm not interested in excuses. I'm not interested in problems.
I'm interested in solutions.

No legs? Use your arms.
Mentally ill? Who isn't?
You might not get your dream job if you're disabled but same goes for everyone else.
I'd like to be president. That will never happen.
I'd like to be an f1 driver. I'm too old and now my neck is screwed.
Guess what, I can still do plenty of other things and so can everyone else.

Stop making excuses. Take responsibilty for your own life. Even if you fail. Keep marching forward. If you've been following me for a few years, I've overcome quite a bit. Your excuses are invalid.

Oh. If you're really keen on helping, I need about 6,000 more to open my brake shop.

But for real, if you feel so strongly about helping others, then shut up and do it. But don't force your views onto others.

That's quite self defense system you have built up as an excuse to ignore others worse off than yourself.

Like you do in every post you make? That kind of forcing?

I would never help someone who thinks like you. I help people who deserve and need it.

I don't force anything. I try to get people to think logically. Unfortunately logical thinking is not something the typical human is capable of. They're too quick to appeal to emotion and are unable to think past that crap.

The fact of the matter is we have food stamps, welfare, section 8, homeless shelters, food kitchens, job fairs, outreach programs, and volunteer programs all for helping these people.
Clearly none of it works. Why would I want to spend more money on it when it's not netting results? It's an exercise in futility. Seriously, homelessness and poverty are getting WORSE despite MORE programs and aid. It doesn't work.
If you truly want to help them, leave them the hell alone. Stop throwing change at them. Stop giving them food.
Make them take care of themselves and they will surprise the hell out of you.
You look at people and see them as poor and helpless.
I look at people and see people that need a fire lit under their ass to get them out of their funk.

Unlike you, I have faith in these people.

And I don't want your help. I was being facetious. I don't want to be beholden to anyone in my business ventures. I don't want loans. I don't want investors.
I should have it by the beginning of the year.

Exactly.
No one helped me find a job, save, fall in love, build a life with kids and a beautiful house, work 40 years, retire. Didn't have help from govt assistance. My brother didn't want to work and lives in poverty now on every assistance possible. We each got what WE DESERVE.

Imagine what sanctuary status means. I assume it means state and local law enforcement does not participate in the investigation or enforcement immigration-related crimes, nor does it cooperate with federal law enforcement officials regarding immigration-related crimes.

How far away from that are we now?

I have had people help me out. Not so much with money, but I have gotten some help from a few people. It's nice. BUT none of them were forced to help. That's what I am against. The government forcing me to help.
I help people all the time. But I do it without being forced. I do it on my own terms.
I've fixed people's cars for free. I've given people rides. I've talked people out of suicide. I've given people money. I've bought things for people that needed it. I'm fine with helping. I'm not fine with coercion.

I was starving to live in a liberal city again. Formerly of Minneapolis, one of the most liberal cities in the country, ranked with San Francisco/NYC.

Tucson is dubbed the Blue Island of the Southwest, the most liberal city you can find in the SW! And? I love the 65 mile proximity to Mexico!

Did you mean you were starving because you were living in a liberal city?

That sort of makes sense. But I would think Cali would make more sense for you.
