Hello! My family is wanting to relocate to Henderson NV from WA. We are an interracial couple in our mid-20s. We have a 2 year old daughter, so a couple more years until she’s in school. My husband is from Atlanta and misses the warm weather. I’m an elementary school teacher and my husband is in sales. We plan to rent first and then buy a home. I would love sone friendly advice and/or opinions. Any apartments you recommend? Certain areas? Etc? Thanks in advance! 😊

Some of those threads are not up to date though.

It seems elementary school teachers are in constant demand everywhere across the USA. Clark County (where Las Vegas and Henderson are) is no exception. What type of sales does your husband do? Is he inside sales? or out in the field? Does he need to have easy access to the airport for travel?

What's your rough budget for rent? What size house? Once you get ready to purchase, what are you thinking about size-wise and price-wize?

Hi there! My husband does inside sales (insurance). We are looking for an apartment first, 1000+ square feet, and we would like to stay under $1650. As for home in the future, we would like a 3 bedroom with about 1500+ square feet $320k.

You won't have trouble finding a job. The Clark County School District is always looking for teachers. As far as your husband goes, I have less of an idea about jobs in insurance in particular or sales in general. As far as the interracial part, I believe that you will find Las Vegans to be a live-and-let-live kind of crowd. You won't see a lot of judgmental attitudes. That is one reason that the family from Sister Wives lived here (until they decided to pull up for Flagstaff). People here left them alone and let them live their lives.

Shoot for zip codes 89052, 89012, and 89044. 89044 is a bit ways out of some things though. These are the nicest zips in Henderson.

You'll be taking quite a pay decrease by moving from WA to NV. What district do you work for currently? I know in my mom's district in Kitsap pay went up this year ranging from 10,000 per year to 40,000 per year depending on years of experience and education. Top paid teachers are making 108,000 (16 years and Masters Degree). NV can't shake a stick at that I don't think.
