Hopefully they aren't going to end up putting homes there instead

Very sad to hear this. It's a pretty cool spot.

I wonder if Bonnie died? I met her and her son once. So many stories of old Las Vegas there. I got a private tour and heard more than a few of them. If Bonnie is still alive she must be over 90 now. I always hoped she would meet someone she liked to collaborate on writing a book. It would have been a best seller, easy.

I tried and failed!

The last time I was up there, Bonnie was very ill and not supervising, but rather relying on her ranch hands to take care of the animals. I had a very stern conversation with the dude in charge over a petting zoo goat that was clearly being starved to death because he was the runt, and the deer were taking all the feed.

I’ve been there many times. I’ve seen one of their staged gunfights, wandered through the old schoolhouse, eaten a damn good hamburger, etc.

It was a truly fun place. I first visited on a field trip in elementary school.

According to this she passed away.

She died. The last time I was there Bonnie was in a wheelchair feeling the wolves/dogs. I could tell she didn’t have long. She was all smiles though and seemed to enjoy all the people visiting. I hope they don’t get rid of that place, so many memories made there.

According to the link Tim found, they are demolishing the whole place. All buildings and the zoo.

I believe that you can pretty much count on it. I found a couple of sites advertising the property for sale, and it was being pitched as a "development site". The asking price was $31M, no idea whether they got that.

Which also doesn’t mean anything good for the wild mustangs and burros around there.

Sad. Had a lot of memories at that place as a kid growing up with the fam.
