Hi,

I live on Saddle Ridge Ave. in Green Valley Ranch right next to the 215. A homeless camp has been built behind our houses. I have contacted the city and they say it is the state's responsibility and the state says it's the city's responsibility. Many of these people obviously are mentally ill. I also worry because it is so close to Vanderburg and Twitchell elementary schools. Are there any other resources I can contact?

Pretty sure that is the city's responsibility. I would keep contacting them. If you don't get anywhere, contact your council person. You can use their system, contact henderson, to open a case and I think it makes an electronic copy. Get things in writing and go from there.

This is the epitome of NIMBY.

Where should the homeless go?

To work.

While some are mentally ill, a lot of them aren't. They're perfectly capable of working and paying for life like the rest of us.

Exactly. As long as the center regulates traffic in and out of the facility I’ll be fine...I prefer the Center being there rather than more homeless on the street. Homelessness is a layoff away for a lot of Americans...

Thank for all the responses. I spoke with NDOT this afternoon and he said there were aware of it. He said they’re fanning out from a larger camp in the shrubs between Green Valley Ranch casino and the 215. I didn’t even know it was there! I drove by tonight and sure enough there were about a dozen people living in the bushes. More proof of the “great” economy!
