Does anyone have any suggestions for no contract portable wifi I could get in Vegas? We will be in a short term apartment rental for several months and need internet service. I work from home so it is vital.

When I moved here three years ago and was in a short term rental waiting on a house to be completed, I signed up for cable service anticipating that I would just transfer it to the new house. That didn't happen because there was issues with the wiring from the road/street to the house. It took two months waiting before I finally got internet at the new house and had to pay over $700 to get out of my service contract with the cable company because I couldn't transfer service. It was a nightmare. I don't want to go through that again.

Thanks

You probably just need good internet on your cell phone, and use it as hot spot for comp.

Wireless cell service in Vegas is at best spotty. Vegas has short range point to point microwave service. LV.net is selling this service at a reasonable price but I don't know if there are contract terms.

lv.net appears to be fine but requires an antenna and equipment. Not workable on a short term rental.

Most places verizon works fine. There are also lots of places that offer wifi on the rental. So probably best to look for one of those. Cox also has lots of pop up hot spots. Might check that out if and when you find a place that does not offer wifi.

I have found I can run find for ordinary www stuff with cox down using a verizon phone as a link.

Thanks for the suggestions.

I have heard from a resident at the complex I plan to move to that they use Century Link on a no contract month to month basis. I'm waiting to speak to a rep to find out if this option is still available. If it is, that seems to be my best bet.

I had used my cellphone as a hotspot when I was waiting for internet at this house. It was very expensive for me because I went through about 1-2 gb daily for work. And I suspect it damaged my cellphone battery because the phone started having issues charging and died afterwards.

I'm aware of LV.net. The complex won't allow it. I had tried to use them as my ISP for my house, but the HOA has rules for where you can attach antenna to roofs and the sides I was permitted to use, the technician could not get a good signal.

My bad experience in the past is why I am being careful this time. I also don't plan to fully move into the new house until after internet is setup there.

No need to wait for a rep, century Link has high speed internet for $65/m no contract and you get a free modem.

You can check the speed online by entering the address. If you're lucky, you will get 1gb up down

You can get Cox for roughly the same price no contract. If the unit is already hooked up, you can just plug a modem in and follow the on-screen prompts to sign up for service.
