I'm missing something here???

Los Angeles expelled a lot of its ghetto population out to the desert areas about 10 years ago when the economy first crashed. Think: Victorville, Hesperia, Rancho Cucamonga, Rialto, San Bernardino, Hemet, Santa Clarita, Lancaster/Palmdale, etc.

Once they got to those places, they realized how close Las Vegas was and began making regular trips over the state line.

Then, when housing prices started to climb again, landlords started flipping houses in those places and re-selling them to actual homeowners. This has been especially true in Santa Clarita and Lancaster/Palmdale where the aerospace economy has really started to take off again. Homes there are going for $350k to $800k now. It's also the case in the Inland Empire cities of Riverside, Rancho Cucamonga and Rialto, where homes are commanding $400k to $1 mil.

This caused a sudden surge of ghetto-type people to actually move to Las Vegas where apartments were plentiful and housing was much cheaper.

Plus, Las Vegas caters to the "ghetto fab" lifestyle: 24-hour club scene, pawn shops, outlet malls, payday loans, casinos, buffets, etc., so the transition was an easy one for them to make.

If you think about the chronological timing of when you started to see a change in Las Vegas' population, it was about 2010-2013, which is when the California economy started to revive and the first wave of rental investments were converted to saleable homes.

Las Vegas has had years of being blessed by its close proximity to California's wealth. For years, places like Summerlin and Green Valley were marketed to upper-middle class white retirees in Orange County, L.A. and San Diego. In a sense, you could say that Las Vegas and Nevada got arrogant and never thought about the consequences of unmitigated growth. They also never foresaw the 2008 Recession.

Another interesting element here that I've discussed in other threads is that Las Vegas is one of the few remaining places where one can achieve lower-middle class to middle class status with limited skills and a union contract. California is no longer the place to be for a person of limited skills. To live in California and succeed requires a great deal of planning, drive and two healthy incomes.

There were never complaints about "Californians" when they were bringing in wealth, retirement money and investments. It's just that this latest wave of Californians coming into Las Vegas doesn't match the earlier wave.

Strangely, Reno never attracted the ghetto element from Sacramento and the Bay Area, despite being cheaper and in closer proximity.

All the anti-white leftism has bred us roving gangs of black teens who think it's okay to stalk, harass, and beat on whitey because whitey is now perceived as weak. The national media isn't picking up the story because it goes against leftist values.

The public is being fed anti-white rhetoric and the media is complicit in trying to normalize this type of bad behavior by failing to report on issues like this, which have been going on for quite some time now.

I am a leftist and I still have to agree with this. Blacks were treated very unfairly in the past while now it has reversed as it is whites who are now the victim. Racism on either side is never okay. All those students should be charged with a hate crime and put in jail, where they belong.

No, but it was cheaper than the Bay Area and most of Sacramento, which is what I meant.

I've worked with dozens of HS students over the years from various schools in the NW and I've never met a kid who seemed to have any worries attending Rancho, Bonanza, Cimmeron or Clark.

Centennial Hills location alone suggests it would attract many home buyers who are less opened minded...suburban minded people.

I have little doubt both sides are contributing to the problems along with some possible mismanagement in their handling of things by the school.
You'd be surprise of what's going on with our schools in the valley, just google Las Vegas school fights in the last 3-4 years. Meanwhile, CCSD has been very busy putting out fires left and right. Kids bring guns to school, kidnappings, robbery and gang shootouts. Not to mention the CCSD Police stealing computers from the school they are supposed to be protecting lol...

School could be part of the problem but IMO this is more of a cultural and mindset issues with current generations plus the environment of where the kids grow up in. If you have a deadbeat parents, foul mouthed, no respect for the law and always blame someone else for their mistake...kids will do the same thing. It's a cycle of the same crap over and over again, too many broken homes and single parents--it really is a big factor but no one wants to recognize. Just like poverty, it's a lifestyle chosen, not forced on anyone. You can't listen to any music on the radio without hearing anyone swearing ..plus the image that some of this people portray..it's despicable.

I'm a true believer in that a successful community is largely dependent on its residents attitude and behavior and the willingness to do things right. Not many communities like this exist today. Raising kids in this day and age, is and will always be a big challenge. I missed the days when the news at school was about how good the football game was, not someone got beat up by a bunch of wild dogs.

This is the 2nd time I'm hearing problems about black students in that area but this isn't anything crazy. I'm more afraid of some cowboy with a gun taking the law into his own hands at the rate things are going.
We don't know the whole story. These kids don't just "seem" to need guidance, they DO need guidance and lots of it. You know I have kids and I'd like for them to go to school worrying about their grades and not worry about about some gangs or fights, IMO, this is crazy that it's happening to begin with. If we normalize these kinds of behavior then we, as a country, will be behind in academic progress...maybe we already are based on child education rankings around the world.

If you or your family are attacked or "jumped" by these group of kids would you defend yourself by shooting them in the heads? You know my answer...
