I understand that the min. Insurance here is 25/50/20k.
This looks ridiculously small for me. What are average costs of a crash at fault that includes bodily injuries here? Together with civil court cost this might go in the 100ks if I am not wrong.

So, having min 1 million cover seems reasonable. Any thoughts?

Get the minimum liability insurance, unless you have enough assets to make suing you worthwhile.

Most people homestead their house which protects it from these types of claims.

Get an umbrella policy that will protect you. Umbrella policies are cheap, I pay 300$ annual for 1MM liability coverage.

The first thing a lawyer does is check the policy limits of any insurance the defendant has. The surest way to get sued for a million bucks is to have a coverage limit of a million bucks.

Unless there is permanent disability or death caused 100/300 is sufficient. The minimums are a joke, if you are going to regulate people having insurance allowing minimum coverage is stupid. Insurance companies love minimum coverage because they just pay it off and wash their hands of the situation. No need to litigate or keep their people occupied just pay off the max and leave the insured on their own should there be more liability.
