This thread isn't about any major league team, or any major league team coming to Las Vegas, or any stadium as we already have a new AAA stadium.

Take that discussion elsewhere.

Sorry, but it’s all about opportunity cost. Passing a room tax for a stadium, prevents a similar tax increase for another area that would have a greater good.

Just because tourists mainly pay for it does not mean it’s a smart use of tax revenue.

It's very true and it's impossible to judge what's the best use of those tax dollars. A baseball stadium or maybe a world class art museum or new roads or whatever. The room taxes get to a point where it's just too much. Maybe we haven't gotten there yet!?

Oh absolutely. My point is that the tourists and convention visitors can absorb all the costs for these big projects or for general funding. At some point, the visitors will simply stop accepting the increases. Clark County can't rely on us for funding every time some big want comes up.

The Aviators too are getting subsidized by a tax on tourism that could theoretically be spent on other public expenses. There wasn't much ado made about it when LVCVA basically ponied up all the money it took to make the stadium viable and LVCVA funding comes from hotel room taxes as well.
